This is a breakdown of what I think the prob is against top 5 teams, lets start with the loss to stanford
Stanford 40 VT 12 Ill say lack of offense was the prob here
Ala 34 VT 24 Lack of offense for an entire game, and terrible playcalling here
2004 3Aub 16 Vt 14 Lack of offense, we scored 1 td late on a blown coverage
3Boise Sate 33 VT 30 Started out flat, couldnt score when we needed to, terrible playcalling and Defense here
2LSU 48 VT 7 Horrible playcalling and all around bad game, even on D
2BC 14 VT 10 Playcalling, not recovering and onside kick, and poor coverage on the last play
1Miami 56 Vt 45 Good game all around miami was very talented that year
I am sitting here going over the 2011 class and I just dont get it. I mean dont get me wrong there are some gems there. Kris Harley is going to be a beast at DT, Knowles could be great at wideout, Malleck will be nasty at TE, and Goins is weighing in at near 300lbs. Not to bad, but UVA freaking has a top 25 class, now all of them may not pan out, but I dont see how you sign those kids from VA when we have beat down their team every single year! It is time for a change in philosphy around here and it needs to start right the fuck now! I do think Foster brought in alot of talent that he can get us back to a top 5 defense, but we only have one OL, a couple TE, but I mean come on!
Just wanted to write about our unis for a minute here. I personally have loved every single new uniform that we have gotten from Nike. But i would like to see us wear them a lil bit more often. The orange helmets were awesome for the orange bowl. I love the all black unis for the boise game. I love the white pro combats. I personally would love to see Nike do up our all maroons, thats my all time favorite uni. Also i would kill to see all orange with maroon numbers!
It is time to get rid of stinespring as OC, I can live with keeping him on as our head recruiter though, the man has brought in alot of good talent for us, he just doesnt have the mindset to utilize them though. We have had some great college backs come through and be great for us. I personally haven't been satisfied with the recent situation at RB. Ryan Williams was the best RB we have ever had until he got injured. Evans was a great back for us, but he is not the shotgun handoff read kinda back. He is a bruiser made to wear down O Lines. Personally, I am very glad that RW and DE have moved on before stiney can ruin them.
