Interview with VT Hockey Coach over at Gobbler Country. For those interested, it's a pretty decent interview.

It's incredible how the writer portrays Thompson as being coveted. I didn't see it as a detrimental loss when he left recently.
Best of luck to him though in the future. Too bad it's with the Buckeyes!

Ryan Williams, Sr., QB Miami was heir apparent to the graduating Morris.
Tore ACL in practice Saturday.
He may be out of the picture for 2014.
Editor's Note: This is a fantastic story. Moved to front. --Joe
This story was originally for a class/possible CT article, but I figured y'all would enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Happy Friday, y'all.
As he led the way to a secluded area for an interview in one of the tutoring rooms atop Lane Stadium, Michael Cole heard a familiar voice call out.
"EY, YO! IS THAT MIKE COLE I SEE?" shouted Kyshoen Jarrett, starting rover for Virginia Tech's football team, who was walking from the practice field with a backpack slung over his shoulder.
Seems like Loeffler is keeping the trend of insuring the QB position well stocked. Yesterday Joe Burrow, top rated QB out of Ohio, was offered a scholarship for the 2015 class measuring at 6'4" 195lb junior out of Athens, Ohio.
His Junior year stats.
3239 Total Passing Yards
47 Passing TD's
249.2 Passing Yards per game
202 complete out of 325 attempts
8 interceptions
Here is his highlight video from his Junior Year.
Wadup guys! Be prepared for some thunderstorms and our first convective storm this weekend!!!! Meteorologists are gitty about this shit and we may have gotten our first tornado of the season last night/afternoon last night!!! Cape and LCL values certainly favored a small one especially with wind directions in the atmosphere...I could go on and on about this....but just appreciate the thunderstorms tomorrow instead of snow and sleet tomotrow for a change! Expect temps to remain in the 50s bring an unbrella or hoodie to work and this squall line and low pressure system will push bad weather from south Carolina to Penn. So fair warning!!!!
For some reason UVA have to remind themselves that they still suck...pathetic

Hello again everyone I was with the O-line today but saw both offense and defense practice. First off Dadi is a man possessed and he beat every tackle he faced today. Vinny Mihota had his way with Teller a few times and beat Wang multiple times. Nigel Williams was solid as was Wade Hansen (sleeper in the D-line). In terms of Offense vs. Defense the plays got a little chippy as scrums ensued a couple times but nothing really of note. Ford and Leal have extremely good deep balls and Newsome...wow his speed is good. Knowles is doing much better on the deep passes making a few good acrobatic catches. Carlis Parker is also going to be a playmaker in the near future.
So it's officially the first Friday of spring (except for any of you down under, sucks to be you), and my billion dollar bracket fizzled out on game 1 (and I really have a hard time with caring about basketball if there's nothing in it for me), so I thought it'd be fun to have a topic where we can reminisce about the superior sport (football).
So here's the thing: post your favorite Hokie play-by-play moments. It could be TV or radio announcers, and you can include other sports like basketball if you'd like.
Here's three to get us started (of course I have to include the famous Nebraska game):
"Has a man open! Caught! (Unbelievable!) Danny Coale! All the way!"
I was just listening to 106.7 in DC this morning and they had Feinstein on for his weekly segment. He mentioned that people are talking to him about Buzz Williams being a strong candidate for the Hokies.
Today I was able to watch the Inside linebackers for positional drills. Chase Williams and Deon Clarke were getting the first team reps today. For the second team it was Andrew Motuapuaka and Drew Burns. Chase Williams was the go to answer for Bud as he was making the correct read when doing a simulation of tracking where the ball carrier was going. Drew Burns was a little slow to react in the simulation but he did make the correct read each time. Motuapuaka is going to surprise some people this year as he was quick at getting to the point of attack and I wouldn't be surprised if him and Deon Clarke are in a battle until a few weeks out from the first regular season game.
As many of you know this week begins the winter workouts for Virginia Tech football. I am fortunate enough to have an inside look at what is going on and I would like to share my thoughts from Day 1 of Winter workouts. The first thing that jumped out to me was how much of a leader Andrew Ford was. he was very vocal in telling the other player on the team to step up and congratulate players for there hard work as well as being a leader and leading by example. Dadi was also a man possessed during the workout this morning (mainly athletic drills) as he was beating his opponent consistently (Bucky Hodges and Deon Newsome and he also beat Gibson but Gibson also had a good day as well).
im creating a group for those interested, the group is called thekeyplay password is gonna be thekeyplay too
The Hokies lost a lot of good, productive players on the front seven following the 2013 season. I'll go ahead and name them: Gayle, Collins, Hopkins, Edwards, and Tyler, & Tyrel Wilson. As spring ball approaches, which player, that didn't play much last year, do you think will rise on the depth chart this spring/summer and emerge as the next great playmaker on the defensive front for the Hokies this fall? I have my eye on Seth Dooley...
GO HOKIES!
Here is the crux of what I'm going to try and explain my thoughts on; Virginia Tech should hire Bruce Pearl as it's next head basketball coach, this year or next. However, before I start in on that I want to provide some context about myself that I hope will illuminate for those that read this why I feel the way I do.
We will be playing the 10 seed in the first round...Wake or Miami. I envision us winning the first round with ease and then the 7 seed is very manageable (Pitt (not likely), FSU (not likely), NCSU (LIKELY), or UMD (Less likely than NCSU but more likely than FSU/Pitt)). Do you think we could advance past that? Playing Duke (likely), Cuse (a little less likely), or UNC (no...probably) in the quarterfinals? My ideal situation would be the following;
-VT beats Miami for the third time this season 69-55
-VT beats NCSU in a close one. Jarrell Eddie hits the gamewinner with 3.4 seconds left.
-VT beats Syracuse, who is playing like trash the past few weeks (anyone watch the GT game last night?), 58-52.
I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner, but for anyone into golf, the Cville Chapter of the VT Alumni Association, is holding a 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on May 3rd, 2014 at 1pm.
Benefits go toward the VT Scholarship Fund to provide area VT upcoming Freshman some money for books and such.
If this is not an acceptable use of the TKP forums, I will take this down. I've provided a link to the Golf Tournament Even page on our chapter Facebook page.
I am also on the lookout for sponsors, so if you know of anyone willing to sponsor a hole, or the whole tournament, get in touch with me and I'll provide that information.
