Drew Harris

And The Hits Keep Coming

http://vtsports.blogs.timesdispatch.com/2013/06/24/fuma-coach-expects-ho...

A source said it’s unlikely Harris will be able to qualify at Tech because of lingering transcript issues with the NCAA, but that he could end up playing at Florida State.

So no Fisher, no Harris, loss of several big recruits from VA this cycle...it's been a rough few weeks. I think we could all use some good news soon.

Drew Harris

What exactly does it mean when they say that Drew Harris has "NCAA Clearinghouse issues?" I have my own speculations based on my unrelated experience with institutional red tape, but does anyone have any first hand knowledge on what types of specific roadblocks are involved here? It doesn't have to be Drew Harris specific, but I would really like some insight on what the process involves and what could go wrong and why.

Thanks and #BEATBAMA.

Timing: '13 class & staff turnover

We all know how great of a job we've done with our '13 class. I know nothings final until Feb 6 but there's no denying the potential in this class that is estimated to go down as one of the best, if not the best class in VT history. Fortunately for us, our staff turnover [fingers crossed] is expected to happen on the offensive staff so the most prized gems of our '13 class won't be in a bind, but Harris and Hodges are top talent that we don't want to lose.

Thoughts on Drew Harris Prepping at Fork Union

And now it's official.

Harris will attend Fork Union Military Academy for a year to improve his academics before attempting to enroll again in college, a long-rumored decision that was finalized in the last week.

"He's got a really good test score, but he didn't have a great semester in the classroom, so he came up a little short," said Hokies running backs coach Shane Beamer, who was Harris' primary recruiter.

Back in March I was giddy when 6-foot-1-inch Harris said he was "small" at 210 and wanted to play at 220. A big bodied back with a patient running style might be able to win the starting job in August. At the very least he'd push the competition. Of course that was assuming his knee is 100%, which by all accounts it is, but you never know.  Even though I mentally projected him as a key contributer this fall, I'm not freaking out that he won't be here.

My reasoning:

Drew Harris commits to the Hokies

JC Shurburtt of 247Sports reports that stud running back Drew Harris from Downingtown East high school in Exton, Pennsylvania committed to Virginia Tech.

According to Harris' 2010 highlight film he's 6-1 200 and runs a 4.4 40.
