Fresh off a Saturday visit to Blacksburg for some BBQ, cornerback Jermaine Waller verbally committed to the Hokies on Thursday evening.
"Coach Wiggins was already texting me and I called him and told him," Waller told The Key Play via text. "And all the staff was around so I talked to everybody and they were happy. The vibe is mutual. I'm happy with them and they are happy to have me."
The 6-2, 170 pound Avalon School (Bethesda, MD) product opted for Virginia Tech over finalists Maryland, Virginia, N.C. State, Rutgers, Connecticut, and Temple.
"Great vibe," Waller said when asked what put Tech over the top. "School and networking for life after football is great. DBU, I love the facilities and unlike some other schools the staff and community genuinely care about you. Also, players care for each other like a brotherhood."
The 247Sports Composite rates Waller as a 3-star prospect. The Hokies offered him in June after he worked out in-person at their satellite camp at Howard University. Waller plans to enroll early at Virginia Tech.
