Hmm, you guys sure there was a season where there was exactly 49 scored by and against VT? I can find plenty of close calls but usually the other side scores 50 or 52 and the rare few times I've seen exactly 49 scored, haven't seen VT scoring 49 anywhere else that season. Maybe I'm misreading.

The first question is a beast, and I'll be surprised if anyone gets it.
I checked everything twice over with a media guide. There's no year I saw where VT scored EXACTLY 49 and another team scored EXACTLY 49 against VT. There were 2 years, I believe, where VT scored 49 and another team scored 48 and 52 in those years but not 49.
Cal scored 52 against VT in 2003, not 49. VT scored 49 in that game.
Wait a sec...
Cal scored 52 on us in the Insight Bowl...does that mean you were looking for "at least" 49 points? Just wondering for clarification sake.

All I can tell about that picture is it took place in 83 or 85.

I totally worded that question wrong. I guess lack of sleep had me under the delusion that we beat Cal and put up the 52. I need to step my trivia game up.

The picture is from 1985. Louisville had different helmets in '83. Hell if I know who he is, though. I can't find any source that has old VT rosters, not even old Bugles keep those rosters. You'd have to be alive and well and following VT football back then to remember.

I am guessing here but its a great picture.
I think that is Anthony Midgett returning an interception of Jim Hart when we played the St. Louis Cardinals back in '82. I was only 9 years old then so I may have the year wrong.
