On the second carry of his collegeiate career, tailback Cyrus Lawrence ran 59 yards for a touchdown. It would e the longest run of his Tech career.
via: 2000 Virginia Tech Football Media Guide - History Part 1
Lawrence didn't steal a defense's soul with a single flashy carry, rather he broke its will over sixty minutes. The true epitome of a workhorse back. Even though a season ending injury shortened his senior year to four games he finished his career as the Hokies' all-time leading rusher with 3,767 yards.
Trivia*:
- Lawrence also held VT's single season rushing record until who broke it?
- And by how many more yards?
If anyone has pictures of general Hokie awesomeness that they'd like featured on the countdown email them to me (thekeyplay [at] gmail [dot] com). I'd appreciate it.

The untouchables...
Kevin Jones broke it by 244 yards, which was broken by Ryan Williams last year by 7 yards.
Ryan Williams + Darren Evans = untouchables 2.0
2 Points
There are two corrections:
1. RMFW broke Jone's record by 8 yards (1,655 - 1,647).
2. Williams and Evans will be forever known as the 100 Proof Backfield: http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2010/june/1/100-proof-backfield
