Matt Roth is a H-O-K-I-E

Recruiting week continued yesterday when we received our 7th commitment from Nease* (Ponte Vedra, FL) defensive end Matt Roth. He's the third defensive lineman to commit (Kris Harley, Corey Marshall). Roth had offers from West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Duke, Purdue, Michigan, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Illinois, UVa, Marshall, Northwestern, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Utah, Buffalo, Temple, Air Force and he ultimately choose the Hokies over South Carolina after making an unofficial visit last Thursday.

"I had a great visit," Roth said. "I really felt a part of the family. I had a great time up there. It's a top 10 program in the country. At the end of the day, it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Roth recorded 13.5 sacks and 88 total tackles as a junior. He is listed as a 6-foot-3, 230-pound lineman who clocks 4.7 in the 40.

He maintains separation well to feel out and make plays against the run, or contain and then collapse the pocket against the pass. He can play a little against the pass too, dropping back in zone and pulling down an interception. He's You can download and watch his highlight film here.

*Yes, it's the same Nease that Tim Tebow went to.
