Bruce Taylor dealing with high ankle sprain

Linebacker Bruce Taylor said tonight he's still struggling with the effects of a high left ankle sprain he suffered Oct. 23 in Tech's 44-7 win against Duke. Considering Virginia Tech is preparing to play triple-option oriented Georgia Tech, which boasts the nation's best rushing offense (317 yards per game) and will thus require Virginia Tech's defensive players to be able to cover a lot of ground from sideline-to-sideline, it can't be a confidence-booster for Hokies defensive coordinator Bud Foster to know arguably his best defensive player is less than 100 percent.

"I'll be able to go," said Taylor, who leads No. 20 Virginia Tech with 55 tackles. "(Backup linebacker) Jack Tyler has been doing a good job, so in case something happens to me. It's just real weak. I'm just trying to get the tendons re-tightened and strengthened. It's been rolling a lot lately. We had the off-week last week. I've been doing a lot of rehab."
