A Change We Can Live With

It is time to get rid of stinespring as OC, I can live with keeping him on as our head recruiter though, the man has brought in alot of good talent for us, he just doesnt have the mindset to utilize them though. We have had some great college backs come through and be great for us. I personally haven't been satisfied with the recent situation at RB. Ryan Williams was the best RB we have ever had until he got injured. Evans was a great back for us, but he is not the shotgun handoff read kinda back. He is a bruiser made to wear down O Lines. Personally, I am very glad that RW and DE have moved on before stiney can ruin them. David Wilson is and will be the best back VT has ever had, now thats a bold statement, I know it might make some Hokie fans mad, but from what I have seen from him so far, he needs to be on the field at all times.

Here are some things to consider. Stinespring runs the offense that CFB wants. I don't think any coordinator alive or dead could call a successful game week in, and week out with an average at best offensive line. I don't think he'd accept a demotion. I really believe we try to do too much on offense and we need to figure out what we do well and focus on that, forget the wrinkles.

I agree with you about Evans. I cringed every time he'd carry the ball from the shotgun because it didn't play to his strengths. As I understand it the backs had the freedom to rotate themselves in and out of the game. So it is conceivable that Stiney called a play with Ryan Williams in mind and Evans tapped him out last minute after the play was called.

As far as Wilson is concerned, yes I think he's going to be great and hopefully we use him and his spreed to spread the field. I am not 100% convinced that he can carry the ball 20-25 times a game like Ru or Evans. I expect Oglesby to get a healthy amount of carries next season.

And welcome!

Ah...little brother....

Seth...you crack me up. lol.

I do agree that Stiney has to go!! He's held us back for long enough. Our strenght of schedule has helped him keep his job this long. Whenever his inability to call a good game starts to show...we go play a marshall game and he comes off looking like the greatest oc since sliced bread. Last year should have been a NC...He wasted what surely was a nc caliber team. Run up the middle...deep pass...deep pass...people figure that out pretty quick. We needed screens, draws, and maybe even an option every now and again. And maybe don't use DE in the shotgun....hmm...I hope DW can come in and do what he's shown flashes of last year. He's super explosive and versatile, but i'm gonna wait and see if he can be an every down back. If we don't run the table this year...it will be a sad day.....
