ERIC GREEN* Friday

Yo friends.

One day 'till Hokie Football. ONE DAY. In honor of this day, I'm gonna drop some knowledge about one of the my favorite players from the years leading up to my 4 at Virginia Tech, Eric Green (not the basketball player).

Playing for the Hokies in the early 2000's, he was one of the first faces of Beamerball on a national level. Dude not only blocked 4 kicks in his career, but he amassed 8 interceptions, 4 of them coming his Freshman year in 2000. Were it not for an ACL injury taking him out of the 2002 season, dude would probably be one our all time leaders in interceptions, blocks, swag, etc. He was one of the originators of VT as a DB factory, and he damn right earned it. Anyone who remembers his punt block for TD that almost won us the 2001 Miami game knows what I'm talking about.

Anywho, here's one Hokie hoping this season finds us another Eric Green in not-so-ideal deep secondary. Also, I'd love to see us return to some crazy athletic blocked punts, but then again, who doesn't?

[I know it's my first post, so here's a name explanation: My first VT football game was a 0-16 loss to the manBearcats of Cincy. I then witnessed us fire off 10 straight wins, including a smackdown of a highly touted Texas team in the Sugar Bowl. I consequently called us winning 10-straight in 2010. Call me crazy, but that's the type of story that makes a lifelong Hokie. Well, that and my father, grandfather and great-grandfather being classes of 1974, 1934 and 1908, respectively]
