Running Up The Middle

If there is one consistent knock on the OF that I've seen from the various outlets and message boards, it is that VT was having a tough time running between the tackles.

Anyone out there agree with this and have a guess as to why that is?

I worry that a bigger, more sophisticated team will scheme around that. A team like UNC or Clemson that has athletic DEs and LBs can try and contain the edges and force it up the gut. If they are succesful in taking away the outside runs and we can't get traction up the middle, I get a bit worried. I guess you can respond by throwing more but that makes us one dimensional.

Am I overreacting to the issue? Or is there something there?

DW>o-line, obviously

I feel DW can break a long one as long as the o-line gives him the slightest bit of a hole. He had a ton of broken tackles, but I'm sure most of those were once he had his track speed building his momentum. I don't yet trust his ability to pound up the middle without solid blocking.

Third and one

Do I trust we could make it against the likes of FSU, Alabama, or LSU? Remains to be seen.
