My guess: 1) AJ Hughes 2) JC

My guess:

1) AJ Hughes
2) JC Coleman
3) Josh Stanford
4) Donaldevan Manning
5) Donovan Riley
6) Trey Edmunds

I would be stunned if anyone else makes the team. Edmunds is the toughest choice. He is clearly good enough, but with Gregory and Scales eating up scholarship space, Beamer may look to save him.

So no to Joel Caleb? Interesting.

Dat-Boy

At this point...

Locks (99.9%)

Coleman
Stanford
Manning

Probably (75%)

Edmunds

Maybe (50%)

Hughes/Windmueller
Riley
Tookes (He was in green for the scrimmage.)
Clarke

Unlikely (25%)

Caleb
Charley Meyer

Redshirt (0.01%)

The rest

Beat Alabama.

Hughes and Windmueller I think are both locks, UNLESS Beamer decides to use Branthover as his backup punter AND kickoff guy, which opens up another spot for someone like Edmunds.

Updated Depth Chart

It looks like the depth chart on hokieports.com has been updated today. Interesting 3-way tie for #2 tailback with Coleman, Gregory, and Scales. Edmunds is nowhere to be found, which is disappointing but understandable given the bodies ahead of him.

Also, there are still two starting roles up for grabs on the d-line, as the Hopkins/Maddy and Collins/Marshall battles are not yet over.

Hughes passed Windmuller on the punter depth chart. Let's hope that we can get a consistent #1 punter before the season starts.

2nd Team Secondary

doesn't scare any opponents. There's not even a person listed for 2nd team Rover (probably would slide RVD into this spot, if needed) This secondary will be the crux of the for 2012. 1 injury, huge loss. 2 injuries, season could take a huge downward spin.

Agreed. Manning didn't impress, and Donovan Riley isn't ready. I think Caleb regrets not considering a move to safety. Learning the nuance of WR route running is tough.

Oh, and I learned that "Lord of the Rings" Boye Aromire didn't scrimmage, and Cole got knocked out with an injury. So, both the backup safeties are now banged up.

#RVD4ROVER

Viva El Guapo

yeah i don't see how he doesn't fit into the rover AND whip equation .. jgw sounds like he is good ENOUGH to start, continue on with this "artificial" depth and let rvd prep for both. he started out as rover so he should know the schemes right?
