Just in case anyone missed it, Todd McShay was on Sportscenter this morning discussing his top players in the draft before the season starts. He put Barkley as his #1 but said,
"It will be interesting though. I actually think Logan Thomas out of Virginia Tech is more talented, just needs to develop a bit more. He could improve his status considerably by season's end."

I try not to make a habit of agreeing with McShay.
However, he's right. Unless Logan gets seriously injured (please don't let that happen), I think NFL guys will be drooling over him. Even if he doesn't improve as much as he did last year (again I hope that doesn't happen) he'll still be projected as a first-round pick because of his size, arm strength, athleticism, and potential. Most NFL coaches see a talent and think, "I can mold that better than his college coaches."
If he has sensational season, there's a chance he and Barkley go one, and two, in some order. It's really too early to tell. Logan's in the mix though.
In other news, LT3 is 17th in a semi-accurate preseason Heisman poll: http://www.stiffarmtrophy.com/2012/08/29/pre-season-heisman-top-25/.
Honestly, I don't care about the hardware unless it's that pretty crystal ball. However, that said, I do believe a Heisman winner would be outstanding for the program.
Also, I hate McShay too. Historically, he always picks against us and I love when we prove him wrong 95% of the time.
Logan is a Senior, right? So he wouldn't be leaving early if he declared? All of the redshirting kinda throws me off sometimes.
LT3's a redshirt junior. So, 2012 will be his 4th year in the program, but he'll have a 5th year of eligibility, if he chooses to use it, next season.
Logan is a redshirt Junior, so he can come back for one more season after this year.
A Heisman winner would be the greatest single thing in the program's history. I would prefer a MNC, but it's not like it's one or the other. Current recruits are still pointing out how Vick went to VT and that it left an impression on them. He only finished 3rd in votes, so you can imagine a winner's potential impact on our legacy.
Agreed
I saw a picture of Derrick Green's visit to Auburn and they had him put a jersey on and hold the Heisman Trophy. I think it's safe to say, those kinds of things really stick out in a recruit's mind.
Thanks guys. Guess I shoulda figured that one from playing NCAA 13.
Also, it's true that the Heisman would be a great addition and attract more recruits, but often those winners aren't given the award for great team play. Some previous winners have received the Heisman simply for packing the stat sheet. If Logan can be a team player (which I have no doubt he will be) and pack the stat sheet, we will be looking at a very special season.
McShay is obviously a Richmond grad.
We over-analyze the shit out of everything for no apparent reason. Even the most trivial things.
So yeah, I don't pay much attention to him.
