I understand #

How he's not some first or second rounder. Nonetheless, the guy is a great route runner and possession receiver. Naturally everyone wants a big guy to get YAC, but just as crucial are the guys to get open in space and haul it in.

A sensible move from McShay? #

Rare...

I am surprised he said that #

but Danny Coale deserves all of it. Literally nothing he cant do.

1) As a chemistry major, I #

1) As a chemistry major, I find the chemistry lab themed set ridiculous. And I admit, I'm a little baffled by it. What do erlenmeyer flasks with colored water with alka seltzer tablets in them have to do with the NFL Draft?
2) As a Spider, I try to at least listen to my fellow UR alum Todd McShay. I usually just get mad at him. In this case I was thinking 'well, duh. where have you been? you just realized this?' Then I remembered that it was an espn analyst that we're talking about...
3) As a Hokie, I'm super stoked SOMEBODY at espn decided to give Danny Coale some love. But then I got a little offended, because Todd only described him as 'productive.'
Danny Coale is way more than productive. He's got skills, smarts (football and school), determination, character and integrity. He is everything you want and more in a player and a person. Danny Coale is awesome. And he will be great at the Combine and will shine in the interviews.
He will be drafted. He doesn't need to be drafted in a high round to be successful in the NFL. So I don't really care when he goes. I just want him to have the chance to earn some playing time once he gets drafted. And I want people to acknowledge the person, not just the player.
People (in my experiences outside of Southwest Virginia) tend to think of Tech as just a football machine, seeking talented football players instead of well-rounded people. But that is far from the truth. It's time Tech got some credit (outside of SWVA) for recruiting great players AND great people.
That is all. I'll step off my soapbox now. Thanks for listening.
And Mel, it's App-a-latch-n.

Yeah #

The stereotypical chemistry lab setup is lame. Why do they even call it a lab? Labs are where experiments take place or things are created. This is an analyist's room.

Danny Coale:4.40 40 time #

Unofficial but watching the combine I personally did not expect this from a small receiver like Coale. I think being a sleeper is putting is short changing him. I understand the NFL wants big guys like TO but it is the Wes Welkers that put up big numbers and Danny Coale is this years Wes Welker. Thoughts?

I think being a 4.4 guy is #

I think being a 4.4 guy is huge for Coale. It's going to stir up more of a buzz for Danny among GMs and front office folk, and it gives his agent another chip to toss around while promoting him. By my eyes I knew he was fast, but I didn't think he'd run a 4.4 flat. Although he did test at 4.39 back in 2010, but that's on a Tech watch. Just as important as his speed, he caught every ball that came his way and ran crisp routes. He had an extremely impressive morning and definitely moved up team's draft boards.

better prepare for it #

The LT3 leaving early hype already beginning here at this year's combine...*sigh.

Bradford, Luck and Barkley #

Their hype was 10x greater than LT3's. They all stayed for another year, despite projected top 5 pick. Besides that fact, LT3 is playing in an offense replacing 7 starters. Don't be surprised if he doesn't have a spectacular year, maybe even regress a little from last year. Furthermore, he'll likely be overshadowed by Barkley, Manuel, Aaron Murray, and possibly Boyd. It also doesn't hurt that not many starters will be lost next year (2 WRs, 1-2 linemen), and thus makes it more likely for LT3 to return as well. I think it's very premature to say LT3 will leave early, but we'll see.

points #

conceded, but he WAS the only QB in this year's combine that wasn't competing that I heard mentioned. I think it festers into more, and is something we'll have to deal with all year even though I do agree with y'all.

i am also among those that #

i am also among those that don't see lt3 leaving early. i have a feeling he sticks it out.
