Opening Game Weekend Extravaganza

By now many of us have desperately torn the cellophane barrier off of NCAA '13 in order to get the first digital glimpse of football for the coming year. However it may satiate appetites during the dog days of Summer, nothing can beat actually witnessing the first game of the season. Therefore, I want to get a jump start on planning and figuring out the logistics of this magical happening come Labor Day.

What makes this game against Georgia Tech more special than most over the past few years is that it's at home, against a quality ACC foe, and is usually the game that decides who vies for the top spot in the Coastal. If that's not enough, the last time we even began a season at home against a conference opponent was in '95 versus Boston College. Oddly enough though, we have opened with GT since then, in '00 (sorry about your car Corso). Oh, and my birthday is that Saturday. Sorry for party rockin' in advance.

Now that you realize how big of a fool you'll be not to go (or simply can't make it, sorry) I fully expect you all, the TKP community to start planning, meow. Use the spots below to give dates and locations of tailgating venues in the coming weeks if you so choose. I'm not sure if Joe already had a TKP thing in mind or if people wanted to coordinate here. Either way, LET'S DO THIS.

List me a one of those fools. My girlfriend is moving up to Falls Church in August and her 12 year old son has his first day of school in a brand new place (that may as well be the dark side of the moon compared to Wytheville) the very next day. I wouldn't be wearing my daddy pants if I bailed on him to go to the game...

but, I will be at the Cincy, Pitt, and maybe Austin Peay games.

im in. im in for all of the above. im awful at planning just about anything outside of the most basic functions of life, but if somebody else plans a meet-up, im there. TOTOTOTOTOTOTOOTOTOTSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

These Labor Day games are a pain in the ass

Play the game on Sunday for Christ's sake!

Pain in the ass.... yeah..

Here in Germany it starts at 2:00 AM on Tuesday.
So.

Basically a vacation day, because you're not taking a sick day the day after Labor day.

The pains I go through to watch my Hokies :)

Im in Saturday through Tuesday

My Birthday is that saturday and there's no other place I'd have my bender. Saturday and Sunday will basically be an all day deRAILment. I'm sure many of the NOLA peeps can summon saved numbers to meet up. otherwise, most of us used DM's on twitter for initial contact.

As far as Monday tailgating goes, my fraternity will assuredly have a plot. Nonetheless, I would like to stake claim somewhere for a TKP crew if anyone is interested in working behind the scenes with me to get things together.

Of Course I will be there!

Hokie Thunder Tailgating will be in full force at Lot 15 at 6 or 7 AM. Of course I would love to hang with everyone the night before at TOTS, but as we all know, the kid, and his law cannot be broken. Just lower a rail down for me under the stairs! LOL

Our menu is Seafood as a homage to Savannah, GA. Low Country Shrimp Boil, possible crab boil too if we can figure out how to keep the crabs alive. Come on out!!! Flip Cup competition is fierce with us.

good possibility

there is a good possibility i'm going since it's not looking good for me to help a friend move in philly that weekend.

i'm thinking about taking the richmond hokie party bus up and back the same day. i've heard great things about it so i'm excited to try it out.

anyone else ever do that?

anyway, i would LOVE to meet up at a TKP tailgate for #allthebourbon if one so exists.

also, if anyone has an extra ticket, let me know. thanks.

Parking

Does anyone think the parking arrival time will be strictly enforced?

http://www.hokiesports.com/football/fanguide.html#Parking

Per the above, 4:30 PM is earliest arrival for the Georgia Tech game. I usually do public parking across campus but ended up with a Lot 5 pass for this game and was hoping to be settled in well before 4:30 PM. I assume this would be similar to how Thursday games are handled, but I haven't been to one of those since WVU in '00 (shout out for Andre Davis, anyone?).
