Duke Football Primer, Photo Edition

Dookies are coming to town this weekend! I expect everyone to scream "TEABAG PAULUS" every opportunity they have. #HokiesRespect

The Blue Devils come into Blacksburg fesh off a 42-17 drubbing of the #NewHoos. Mike London, for all his 757 recruiting efforts, has a losing record to Duke. RUT ROH.

As pointed out by pretty much EVERYONE in the national media outlets, at 5-1 Duke is just one victory shy of becoming bowl elligible for the first time since 1995. While having only played in 8 bowl games ever, the Blue Devils has participated in some memorable Rose Bowls. In 1939, the Dookies lost on a touchdown pass from Doyle Nave to "Antelope" Al Krueger in the final seconds to clinch a 7-3 victory for Southern Cal.

The hiring of David Cutliffe has had a profound impact. The numbers don't lie: from 2008-present, Duke has a record of 20-34. The previous 5 seasons, Duke posted a record of 8-50. Of those 8 total victories from 2003-07, only 3 were in conference. This season alone, Duke already has 2 ACC wins.

Newfound enthusiaism in the football program has spurred plans for rennovating Wallace Wade Stadium, including the removal of the track ring encircling the football field. Although word on the streets is that the Duke think tank is still trying to figure out how to fill the stands.

Conner Vernon - who may or may not have been enrolled at Duke since 1998 (at least, it feels that way) - will most surely become a first-ballot ACC Hall of Famer for his career accomplishments as a Blue Devil. 239 and counting...

Let's put off the bowl party at least one more week for the Dookies. Go Hokies!
