VT-UNc

Wakey wakey, rise and shine
it's on again, off again...
Sorry, Radiohead moment.

Anyway, we're playing UNC this afternoon. Erick Green is doing his thing when he can, and he's actually getting some help. Anyone else watching?

Playing their hearts out

Green is getting killed. The reputation of being able to get to the foul line is hurting him today. Someone needs to step up and not sure if there is anyone who will

Can anyone do it besides Green?

RIP Stick it In

refs

I hate the acc. Could the refs be protecting the heels any more? Also Robert brown is going to shorten my life substantially

Coverage

Is anyone going to get in McAdoo's face when he's standing 17-18 ft from the basket? He nails that shot every time and it seems that he always finds himself open...

"Exit light..."

Zone

I hate the fact that we stay in that stupid 2-3 zone. I get the guys need a chance to rest but you don't have to play it the entire second half/overtime

Exactly. In the first half we mixed and matched zone and man, it was a great strategy. Just going straight zone is dumb.

Rip his freaking head off!

5 star recruits vs......

We should have beat them in regulation. Hard to beat 5 star recruits in every position with 7 scholarship players and some of those 7 are not much help.

Why did we stay in the zone?! I know we do it because we don't have enough people, but when you're in overtime switch to man! It's the only way to keep them off the boards. JJ lost us that game.

Rip his freaking head off!

I thought we rushed the final possession, and given our depth and foul situation, it would be tough to pull it out in overtime.

Green's scoring drought in the second-half and OT was uncharacteristic and it hurt our chances, but I can't pin the loss on him. He distributed the ball, scored 16, and there were too many possessions where he didn't touch the ball.

Brown is struggling. He was 3 of 12 from the field, and had 5 turnovers. If he didn't make the negative plays, or passed the ball instead of jacking up bad shots, we might have won in regulation.

Eddie and Raines had strong-ish games and I'll take that as a sign of encouragement.

Beat Alabama.

I have a solution to our basketball troubles: dump it altogether

What has changed.

What has changed since the beginning of the year? Lets' go back to the Oklahoma State game. We won by 10 points over a team that was ranked #15 in the country. Oklahoma State has beaten NC State by 20 points and today they beat #2 Kansas at Kansas. Early in today's game we looked like that same team, but what happened? The confidence is not there, reminds me of the football team this past year during certain times. Remember the beginning of the Duke football ? Some players stepped up in that game and turned it into a runaway. Do we have a chance to turn it on for the ACC tournament. The last two games are showing some progress, just not enough to pull out the win

What has changed?

Everything has changed. Brown has played terrible for the majority of the season, Eddie has cooled down, barksdale hasn't progressed at all, wood got hurt, jvz and Raines have been inconsistent and lack a strong rebounding presence, and rankin has been, well, average. To add on to that, team defense has taken a turn for the worse, especially 3-point defense. At the beginning of the year, we we were playing confident and inspired basketball and we had the hottest backcourt in the country. Now our backcourt is a one man show and our team has gotten back down to where we were expected, and probably should, be, near the bottom of the league.
