Lacy's 157-yard, two-touchdown performance in the 42-14 national title win over Notre Dame didn't hurt his NFL stock. CBSSports.com's Rob Rang has Lacy as the draft's top running back, No. 43 overall. With the short shelf life of NFL running backs, Lacy is probably wise to declare.
Milliner is widely considered to be a first-round talent. The 6-foot-1 Milliner impacted the title game early by defending Notre Dame's 6-foot-6 tight end, Tyler Eifert, on a lob pass on Notre Dame's first drive.
D.J. Fluker is also expected to forgo his senior season. That leaves Alabama losing 3 of their starting offensive linemen (Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack were seniors).

After such a rough year this year, expectations for next year will most definitely be low from the national media. There's a story on SI.com about the same thing, just a lot more in-depth. It's all junk and none of the stuff actually works, but the most important point in the article is that the junk-peddler gives the stuff to the players for free, while promising that he'd swear he sold it to them. Accepting anything for free, even if it's useless, is an NCAA violation. And it's apparently on video.
But it would require some more information surfacing about it soon, and most likely we would need Bama to be proactive about self-sanctions. The NCAA certainly wouldn't have time to make a ruling of their own, especially now considering that their investigators are currently under investigation...
Action before the start of next season would basically be a lightning-fast response when the NCAA normally favors moving along at glacial pace. Whether or not it will have any bearing on last year's National Championship is another matter, but we likely won't hear more about that without more information and a lot more time.
Stoutland is the second member of Saban's 2012 staff to leave for a new job. Greg Brown was recently named Alabama's new secondary coach after the departure of Jeremy Pruitt, who left to become Florida State's defensive coordinator.
Sorry, but I want Bama at full force. I'm not so worried about coaches leaving as I'm sure Saban will reload. He hasn't had the same coaches every time he won the national championship. But I want all their players and for them to be healthy.
Why?
Because I don't want excuses or an asterisk for why they lost. I want people to say VT won downright. No, oh some players were out or couldn't play, so VT beat a struggling Bama. None of that BS.
The most dangerous part of our team for that game, and I know multiple people have said it before, is that we have nothing to lose. If we lose by 50 guess what, nobody is going to care. That's going to be what everyone predicted and we'll move on as usual. Alabama has everything to lose, full strength or not. Their dynasty would be questioned and more importantly their national championship hopes would be hurt badly.

Basically, all the reasonably priced places near the stadium are booked. My friends and I said fuck it and decided to just get a room at the Omni so we can just stumble home after the game. You'll either pay an arm and a leg, or be 20 miles away.
I may be in the minority, but anything over a mile or so isn't really good stumbling distance.
That said, looking at 1.1 miles, that reduces it to $210/night.
And that "Savannah Suites", I guess if you're just looking for a bed and that's it, then ok, 1.4 miles away for $64, but half the reviews are "terrible", and apparently it is in a somewhat unsavory location.
Thanks, but I still think I'll stick to the "North Perimeter" area, the hotel is right next to a metro rail station, should work out pretty well.
try trivago.com or kayak.com - you can search "georgia dome" and it will give you a bunch close. I booked "Castleberry Inn and Suites" for pretty cheap, about half a mile from the stadium. I'm sure it's booked up by now but maybe you can call, just a suggestion.
so what's the tailgating situation like around the ga dome? we'd prefer to tailgate but if parking is extremely limited it may not be worth it for a parking pass.
if that's the case, then what's the bar situation like around the ga dome?
Go to Stats. My second favorite bar ever, to Big Als and very close to the stadium. They have a bartender waiting to serve you while you are waiting in line for the pisser.
Also, when you get downstairs where the bathrooms are its a hall of doors, probably 10 or so that have lights outside the door. When the bathroom is used its red, available its green. So you walk down the hall and find a green door and you have a personal bathroom with tv's. Just a slight upgrade over Big Al's trough.
"Students will be allowed to purchase tickets from the Virginia Tech allotment during the student season ticket ordering process. Seats are available for $30 and will be allocated in a special lower level student section at Georgia Dome. Seats will be allocated randomly within the student sections. Once all lower level seats have been allocated, the remaining seats will be filled in upper level seats."
My only problem with the wording is that it makes it sound like these tickets are gonna be sold with season tickets, which would really screw we few cadets that are gonna go.
They will sell them separate. They are just establishing a pecking order. First was prior season ticket holders and Hokie Club members, now it's student season ticket purchasers, soon it will be general public.
Yea just called the ticket office. The voice on the phone said for the ticket release this week, you must buy season tickets to get the bama option. There will be a public sale within the next few weeks, obviously not at the student rate. And the voice said there may be a separate student sale within the next few weeks too. They are still receiving applications and need to work everything out.
I assume they will sell at a Public rate and a "Student" rate, but if I remember correctly, there isn't any verification to make sure you are a student when purchasing.
I'm assuming every student is only going to be allowed to buy one ticket because of all the problems with the title game two years ago when people were just hoarding them to sell them. So if you're able to buy one I don't see any reason I couldn't pick it up.
I'm anxious for them to go on sale too, because it means I'll finally know where my seats are!!
I went through my dad's season ticket order for this but the last couple of times we've gone that route for neutral site games, we've gotten awful seats. We shall see.
Oh, me too! The good thing about the Georgia Dome though is that there are really no absolutely terrible seats in that stadium. I've sat on the same side the two times I have been there though.
We don't have season tickets! :( We always manage to get tickets from our friends. Will I still be able to purchase the public tickets?
The way it was explained to me was that the Georgia Dome and Chick-Fil-A will NOT be selling any tickets. Alabama gets half of the tickets to sell and Tech gets the other half. The ticket office was in no way expecting the season ticket holders to buy half the stadium. They fully anticipate having tickets to sell to the general public.
Honestly, the fact that Chick-Fil-A was not selling any seats was the only reason that I went through my dad. Because season tickets holders will have first dibs on the seats.
At this point, I could honestly care less where my seats are or whether I have first dibs or not. I just want to be there and support! (Although, good seats would be icing on the cake)
Considering that 900 season ticket holders dropped their season tickets this year (info from one of my dad's Hokie Reps), I don't think many season ticket holders bought Alabama tickets. So I'm sure there will be plenty to choose from in the general public sale.
Apparently, morale is low within the Hokie Club... I'm not really surprised that some people didn't renew their seats.
I mean 900 may seem like a lot of people, but relatively it is only about 1.4% of the stadium seating. I'm sure those seats will be filled by others in line trying to buy season tickets.
very true...it honestly is great to cycle in a new wave of season ticket holders. Hopefully they are younger and can stand up and get rowdy during the game.
I'm not so sure there's a "line" of people waiting to buy tickets. The last year or two, we haven't sold out on season tickets alone, which is a change from years past, even when opened to the general public.
There is no longer a wait list of any kind, so unless there are 900 extra people planning to buy tickets this year that didn't want to last year, we might see our first non-sellout in something like 15 years.
When I first read that, I was pretty sad too. My guess is it's a bunch of recent grads (who give other recent grads like me and people on this site a bad name) who are used to nothing but winning, and they're showing their true colors as fairweather fans. Go ahead, open up those seats for those of us who really care.
Or, they saw the absolutely horrid home schedule for next year and decided that the price for seeing Duke, Western Carolina, and Marshall was much too steep. Who knows?
i have a rotating schedule for my job and this year i can't get off enough days to warrant buying tickets for the entire season, its expensive and i have a wedding to pay for coming up. by no means am i a fairweather fan in fact i am going to a few games this year i just didn't buy season tickets...ps with around 10k in student loans left to pay vt is getting my money. i think like a few have said a bad economy and pretty crappy home schedule probably were a factor for people too
All valid points. I guess I'm seeing it through the lens of the people sitting around me this past season. The ones that complained the whole game, left after the first quarter, etc. Many were young alums, so that's probably skewing my view of things. The schedule is weak, to be sure.
with people like that it had to be frustrating for sure, i was lucky my section didnt have people like that. ill get season tickets again in 2014 this year i just cant do it, my dad made sure to get his season tickets though so ill bum off him im sure
i mean the fact that the schedule is nothing to write home about coupled with the fact that money is kinda tight right now could be a significant turnoff for a lot of people, we're still gonna sell out every game 900 people is not as much as it might seem those tickets will vanish fast especially once we #beatbama
Very, very true. It is super expensive to put down the money for season tickets AND the required Athletic Club donation.
And the economy is part of why I'm not surprised that many fans decided it wasn't worth it. Another reason that people forget is that a lot of donors are getting up there in age. Lots of people just can't get in and out of Lane anymore and can't afford the elevator seats, and their kids don't want the seats, so they get rid of them to avoid having the hassle of selling them for each game. I feel like there was a huge amount of older alum who were forced to give up there seats in the last few years, and that's just based on what I saw in my own section each week.
I feel like that is the most hilarious golf twosome in college football. Mix the "oh geez, that putt'll get after ya" with the tirade of expletives that will fly out of Saban's mouth and you have the makings of a sitcom.
There was also another tweet (Don't know how to embed) but it shows Saban and Beamer talking about preparations for the game August 31st. I hope that interview gets posted soon!
So random thought...assuming we do enter sandman per usual, I'm assuming bama will get its traditional playing of Dixie land delight before the 4th quarter? I'm excited for this, especially if the game isn't going well
Wow! That seems agressive. Not that I think we'll be that good, but rather our defense IS that good. I actually don't see Bama scoring 22 points. In fact this the kind of game I would put the over/under around 30 and take the under. Defensive smash mouth football...ahhh. Is it August yet?
Yes. They are trying to set a line to get action (money) on both sides of the line. If they set it lower all the money coming in to would be on Bama. I would expect this to continue to come down slowly unitl a week or so before the game.
Chazz Michael Michaelzz|531 turkey legs|replied 1 month 2 weeks ago #
I expected an ~17 pt line, but 22 is not that surprising. Who can blame them, Bama beat Michigan by 27 pts in their opening game last year. In fact, Bama averaged a 25 point victory margin against BCS conference teams and 16 point victory margin over top 25 teams last year. Furthermore, if you consider VT had -4 point differential against BCS conference teams and -14 point differential against top 25 teams, one could argue the line should be closer to 30.
Well, I'm paying good money to see VT play in Atlanta. So, I sure as god hope that 2012 was an abberation and that VT will return that suffocating defense, elite special teams, and ball controlling offense in 2013. If you like to bet, the moneyline will be killer if VT wins.
So I went to the carnival yesterday with my girlfriend and one of the damn carnies was a bama fan and started shit talking me....Totally uncalled for iI tried to be polite but he eventually said.."you're gonna lose, but I have good news for you you're bound to win at one of these games" to which I responded go fuck yourself youre not getting my money and well see whose laughing next fall...the guy thought they were gonna win by 30 never have I met such pompous fans as bama fans and never before have I wanted to see a team get beaten so bad #beatbama I hope we return the kickoff and James Gayle gives an McCarron nightmares for the rest of his life after this game!!!!!
If we don't turn over the ball and give Bama a short field on several possessions, we have a chance. Our defense will be key, and the offense must not make costly mistakes. The offense must also keep the defense from getting winded too soon. This game will be brutal, but if we execute we have a chance.
I think SL will work out for us. He seems to have the approach we've been looking for, and is a student of the game. This is not to be a slight at Stiney, but we all saw that if his game plan didn't go our way, we struggled immensely.
If anyone is going to put a bet on the game, might wanna do it in a hurry. The line has fallen from 24 to 22 1/2 now. Which anyone who gambles knows that points can kick your ass at the end when a team knees the ball instead of kicking a field goal up big on 4th down. Also, the TCU vs LSU game is - 6 1/2 for LSU. Which means a TD wins. Also, FSU is - 8 1/2 point against Pitt. A parlay would be smart here. Put down 50 dollars on VT, LSU, and FSU and the payout would be well over a grand. JUST A TIP! lol before the season gets closer and the juiced lines shrink!
I'm not a big gambler, at least on things that don't have a table or dice, but say I was to place a parlay bet as you just stated with the lines being as above, what happens if those lines increase or decrease in the next 4 months? If they moved the Line to Bama -14 for instance..what happens with my bet?
You are locked into the line you bet on that's why a lot of people are saying take that line now. So if you bet Tech +22 now regardless of where the line moves up or down to before the game your bet remains the same. That would also go for your entire parlay.
I suggest 5dimes.com or bookmaker.eu . They are both extremely safe to use. The best way to put money in your account is to ask them to do moneygram. Go to wal-mart and send money to the name they give you. I know it sounds sketchy. But for the past 3 years thats how I've always done it. I don't like giving them my debit card, or anyone really. Also, it is an offshore gambling so you do still have to send them a copy of your license and a taxform to get payouts. Its required that you deposit at least $100 ( Bookmaker ) and $50 ( 5dimes ) I've always done the payouts through moneygram. I just go to walmart and give the reference number that they provide me and I pick the money up that way. You do have to pay for the fee but if you take out over $300 they will just put that fee money back into your account. Even though they don't charge a fee when they send a check, it's hard to get a bank to cash an international check for less then a 50 dollar fee. Or atleast at First Tennessee.
Also @ Charlotte Hokie, I seen the lines on 5dimes. It allowed me to type in the information as if I was placing my bet, but I have to wait till I get paid to put some money into that account. It was allowing me to pick my teams though, but didnt have funding in my account to actually place a bet.
To those of you placing bets, I hope the Hokies help you profit greatly. I've never wagered on them in big games, other than the Commonwealth Cup. It's partly due to superstition, and partly due to tradition on my part.
He wins the award for one of the most annoying people I have ever watched give a tour. It is hilarious what he decides to emphasize. I just pray we beat those guys. I loath bama fans.

You're breaking my 1 rule on sports betting. Never bet on your team. Good luck to you.
Do they have the moneyline up yet? I'm not on 5dimes, but I was wondering if they already had that up. I'd waste a little bit of money for that payoff, even if it is my own team.
Money line would be the odds that we win outright, not cover the spread... -120 would indicate that we are the favorites... that is def. not the case here haha.
I'm aware that the -20 is the juice, but it doesn't give the option to buy back points or add points yet. But most of the time each whole point is +10 and half point is +5. the -120 is just the default saying if you was to take the 22 1/2 then its -120 to win back 100. I haven't seen 5dimes allow that many points be added back to make it pk. Usually if it's with in 5 points you can get it back to pk (even) but you can try. I don't see the option yet to set the line the way you'd like it. I'd say the most that could be done if the line stays at +21 will be +16. I also don't see the option to do a moneyline n any game other that CU vs CSU. I might be over looking it though. I always take a spread. Especially in a parlay.
Pretty good looking parlay, I'm always hesitant on going with the favorite on a spread as big as Texas A&M has against Rice. Could see it being a let down game and TAMU win by like 17. TAMU probably will be looking ahead to Alabama.
I'm already planning on upgrading the servers before the season. Based on where I think the traffic is going to go when we bring on more writers, our current configuration won't handle the requests.

They might be without Kirby Smart.
As I understand it, he's Saban's right-hand man.
Or perhaps not...
When the Saban to the Cowboys rumors were going on, it was thought that Smart would take over as head coach if Saban were to leave
That's fantastic
He should go for it ;)
Yesterday, it was former Hokie Todd Grantham
that was supposed to be Kelly's choice of DC.
I strongly support him choosing Smart!

Beamer Ball
We just need BeamerBall back in general. We NEVER have blocked punts or Field Goals. I miss the days of the fear of blocked kicks.
6. Cody Grimm. 'Nuff Said.
Also, love the video series. Is there another part after the Miami/BC yet?

ESPN just announced it: http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2013/03/six-2013-college-foot...

Awesome
I hadn't known of the Andrews-Bama connection, that just makes it that much better
I wouldn't care if I had to sleep on the street as long as we #BEATBAMA
so what's the tailgating situation like around the ga dome? we'd prefer to tailgate but if parking is extremely limited it may not be worth it for a parking pass.
if that's the case, then what's the bar situation like around the ga dome?
If you are going to the Bar
Go to Stats. My second favorite bar ever, to Big Als and very close to the stadium. They have a bartender waiting to serve you while you are waiting in line for the pisser.
http://www.statsatl.com/statsatl/index.php
Mind = Blown
The serve you beer while waiting for the bathroom?!? That is the greatest bar business innovation I have ever heard!
Bathrooms
Also, when you get downstairs where the bathrooms are its a hall of doors, probably 10 or so that have lights outside the door. When the bathroom is used its red, available its green. So you walk down the hall and find a green door and you have a personal bathroom with tv's. Just a slight upgrade over Big Al's trough.
I'm gifing all over the place.
No wonder why Atlanta is the city where the playas play...
I heard that in Tuscaloosa they actually do say "Roll Tide" after saying bye, so I'm gonna start saying "Beat Bama"
So student season tickets are up this Thursday, I'm assuming tickets for this game must be right around the corner then, right?
Seems like it
"Students will be allowed to purchase tickets from the Virginia Tech allotment during the student season ticket ordering process. Seats are available for $30 and will be allocated in a special lower level student section at Georgia Dome. Seats will be allocated randomly within the student sections. Once all lower level seats have been allocated, the remaining seats will be filled in upper level seats."
Good eye. I'm as excited to buy my tickets as I am to actually go. I feel like it's Christmas Eve and I just want my damn presents!
My only problem with the wording is that it makes it sound like these tickets are gonna be sold with season tickets, which would really screw we few cadets that are gonna go.
Does anyone know if that means you have to buy season tickets to be able to order Bama tickets or will it be a separate thing?
Not when purchasing, but it says you will have to show student ID when picking them up from Cassell.
ahh so..
when purchasing student tickets, ..you have to pick them up on campus, eh? ...guess that makes sense..
well...being that I'm stationed in Louisiana, anybody wanna do a Hokie a favor?!
Seriously though..
If pick up for student tickets are on campus only, would anybody be willing to do a guy a favor??
I'm assuming every student is only going to be allowed to buy one ticket because of all the problems with the title game two years ago when people were just hoarding them to sell them. So if you're able to buy one I don't see any reason I couldn't pick it up.
This is what I want us to do to Bama on August 31st
PUNCH 'EM IN THE NECK!
FOLD TIDE, FOLD!
The Alabama A-Day game didn't go so smoothly either. With 6 interceptions and 3 fumbles the offenses has their bad moments, also not just VT. See for yourself with this read:
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9194533/nick-saban-says-s...
I want public tickets to go on sale already! :(
I'm anxious for them to go on sale too, because it means I'll finally know where my seats are!!
Because season tickets holders will have first dibs on the seats.
they'll have first dibs but it was announced at the spring game that there will be a public sale in june.
Yes! Thank you!
I'm not really surprised that some people didn't renew their seats.
sad
Once a Hokie, always a Hokie.
There is no longer a wait list of any kind, so unless there are 900 extra people planning to buy tickets this year that didn't want to last year, we might see our first non-sellout in something like 15 years.
one bad year and 900 people drop their season tickets. that's sad and embarrassing
Some of this could be due to circumstances beyond VT's control. Read that THE ECONOMY.
I feel like there was a huge amount of older alum who were forced to give up there seats in the last few years, and that's just based on what I saw in my own section each week.
great thing about being in the MV's is never having to worry about tickets :)
I feel like that is the most hilarious golf twosome in college football. Mix the "oh geez, that putt'll get after ya" with the tirade of expletives that will fly out of Saban's mouth and you have the makings of a sitcom.
Watch him close, Frank. He's short enough to anchor a 34" putter and I wouldn't put it past him to try.
There was also another tweet (Don't know how to embed) but it shows Saban and Beamer talking about preparations for the game August 31st. I hope that interview gets posted soon!
get in his head frank!
How much do you want to bet that Saban's feet can't touch the ground in that chair?
So random thought...assuming we do enter sandman per usual, I'm assuming bama will get its traditional playing of Dixie land delight before the 4th quarter? I'm excited for this, especially if the game isn't going well
So uh,
Wow! That seems agressive. Not that I think we'll be that good, but rather our defense IS that good. I actually don't see Bama scoring 22 points. In fact this the kind of game I would put the over/under around 30 and take the under. Defensive smash mouth football...ahhh. Is it August yet?
I don't really understand that. Are they saying Alabama over Tech by 22? (i don't gamble..)
That's exactly what it means. What's the over/under though?
Over/under is total points scored.
OK, Lloyd Christmas.
http://www.anyclip.com/movies/dumb-dumber/lloyd-taunt-the-waitress/#
I think he was asking what the actual number was.
I should have been more specific. What's the over/under that was put out for this game? Was curious how much they expected each side to score.
Yes. They are trying to set a line to get action (money) on both sides of the line. If they set it lower all the money coming in to would be on Bama. I would expect this to continue to come down slowly unitl a week or so before the game.
All of that math..

College Football Live is really pissing me off talking about this match-up. They're getting ready to talk aabout Logan Thomas after the commercial.
Hahahaha....this was posted in comments on an article about the spread:
tlmoon2112 says: May 1, 2013 7:11 AM
Roll Turd
That line is now Tech +24.
If my fiancee didn't have a stranglehold on our wedding fund, I would be the whole goddamn thing on Tech.
Maybe it's a darn good thing your finacee has a stranglehold on your wedding fund.
Carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.
If we don't turn over the ball and give Bama a short field on several possessions, we have a chance. Our defense will be key, and the offense must not make costly mistakes. The offense must also keep the defense from getting winded too soon. This game will be brutal, but if we execute we have a chance.
As CSL said, his first priority is to protect the football:
I believe before he started at Auburn he said something about his job being to protect the Defense.
Have you seen sites that are actually taking bets yet? All I've been able to find are sites displaying the current line.
I have never bet on a game but am willing to do this. what site do you recommend?
I know our weight room looks pretty impressive but after watching alabama's facility. All I can say is wow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fquDTF09bk
The comments are the best part: "If Chris Farley and Jon Gruden had a lovechild" and "I'm having trouble controlling the volume OF MY VOICE!"
He wins the award for one of the most annoying people I have ever watched give a tour. It is hilarious what he decides to emphasize. I just pray we beat those guys. I loath bama fans.
Our weight room is in the process of upgrading. They are getting stuff similar to the Olympic weight room, so it will be a vast improvement.
For anyone that was wondering about the bet going through, I just put one down and it worked fine!
You're breaking my 1 rule on sports betting. Never bet on your team. Good luck to you.
Do they have the moneyline up yet? I'm not on 5dimes, but I was wondering if they already had that up. I'd waste a little bit of money for that payoff, even if it is my own team.
It's hard not to make that bet when the line is +22 1/2. And yeah the money is -120..
Money line would be the odds that we win outright, not cover the spread... -120 would indicate that we are the favorites... that is def. not the case here haha.
The -120 is just the juice you are paying for the bet.
I actually thought that AM might beat Rice by 45-50 lol. I'm more nervous on the UNC game.
Saw this the other day, and I laughed

Just something for everyone to remember this summer... the next time students are back on campus in full force it will be #BEATBAMA WEEK!!
What are you talking about? It's already #BEATBAMA week!
Joe, I just wanna make sure you guys are ready for the Bama game. When we win this site is gonna blow up, hope your servers are ready.
I'm already planning on upgrading the servers before the season. Based on where I think the traffic is going to go when we bring on more writers, our current configuration won't handle the requests.
Gave a +1 mainly because there isn't a +1,000,000,000...
