Virginia Tech - Alabama tickets

I'm just wondering how many of you guys plan on attending the game and figured I'd start a thread to see what you guys are paying for tickets.

I figure if you find something cheap you can keep the rest of us who are interested updated if you find some good prices out there.

I'm going

bringing 2-3 friends with me. 2 are Bama fans.

Ut Prosism. Lead me, follow me, or get the hell out of my way. Hokie for life.

So far I've got two definite friends (one Bama fan and one tOSU fan) and my wife is a maybe (a UW fan)

Maybe I'll see some of you guys out there.

Definitely going! Cant wait

No useful ticket information yet but a keyplayer provided us with this information a few weeks back:
"....emailed the contact at the C-Fil-a Kickoff web site and got a reply that said they anticipated selling only through the schools. The reply was silent on the sale date despite me specifically asking, so I'm assuming they haven't set a date."

I was a student when we played bama last time and if I remember correctly, they went on sale in April I do believe? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as hotels go, check out and Those sites are really convenient because you can search 'georgia dome' and it will give you a boatload of hotels from all kinds of websites. I got mine already half a mile from the stadium for about $120 a night.

about how much

About how much were the cost of tickets back then, do you remember?

If I remember correctly..

they gave us the option for lower level or upper level (or maybe that was boise, can't remember) but ultimately I think we paid around $50 for nosebleeds (ended up being cool seats because we were right on the VT/bama border so for three quarters we were talking major sh*t to the bama fans literally ten feet away). Keep in mind that was the student rate.

Is there a difference between "student rate" and "public rate"?

I remember for one of the games I thought about going to (maybe ACCCG in Charlotte?) that there was no price difference, it was just that students had first-come, first serve on some allotment and sat in a section together, whereas other tickets were given out by Hokie Club priority. And once a student bought a ticket, anyone could use it, the only distinction was ensuring that students had access to tickets if they wanted them.

Hmmm I see

Not really sure to be honest. You're probably right.

My family gets season tickets every year, but for neutral site games, we usually fins cheap tickets off of stubhub.

I love Virginia Tech, regardless of the outcome of every game.

Do we have a date yet?

I'm super excited

I've had this game circled on my calendar since they announced it. Only thing that sucks is I've finally got approved for retraining (getting out of my shitty cruise missile job) into the medical career field and my training starts on August 12th. So instead of a 9 hour drive from Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana... I now have to take a flight out of San Antonio (more monies!!!)

So who's making the #BeatBama T-shirts and where can i get one!?

Where can i buy one? get to printing them and make some money.

Another Design

Just something I was playing around with. I thought it looked pretty cool

I like it. I like it a lot.

You sir

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

He said his wife found them

does that make her a lady and a scholar or a gentlewoman and a scholar?

this will be my first game as a student. LETS GO

VT Class of 2017

Don't sit down.

No matter what happens.

You may sit, but only on Bama fans, and only if:
We're up by two scores.
They're still talking shit (Blah Blah Fifteen Blah Saban Blah Incest Blah Blah).
You ate Chipotle for lunch.

Otherwise, stand up and yell till you're hoarse. And then yell some more.

There is no exception.
You stand the whole game and you do not leave early. As long as the boys are on the field, you're at the stadium.

However, I do agree that sitting on Bama fans is okay.

Hence the "exception". Sitting on Bama fans is okay, but only in certain situations.

Welcome to the Hokie Nation. Enjoy your time in Blacksburg; it goes by fast.

I'll keep my eye for some deal

Managed to find a great deal for the noise state game.

Found this fancan gem when looking through my archived pictures. It was assembled from our tailgate in the last Bama opener. Great avatar, don't you think? #BEATBAMA

It's all about The VPISU
VT '10, Born & Raised in the 804.
GO: Freeman Rebels, Keydets, Black Knights (the VMI of the North), NY Rangers & Giants, and ATL Braves.

Meet up

I'll get with Joe et al over the next few months, but since I live here in ATL I could pull some strings to get a cool spot for a TKP meet up with a private cash bar in a cool venue downtown if that sounds like something y'all would be in to? I think it would be a good chance for us to get together and mash whilst discussing our impending victory.

sounds great

This sounds good to me. Just keep me posted.

The best way to get good tickets to NFL stadium games

The best way to get good seats for the best prices in NFL stadiums is NOT to go through the school allotment or stub hub. If you feel so, best of luck and FYI you are losing a bunch of money. The best way is to find a Atlanta Falcons season ticket holder. All Falcons season ticket holders will be given an option to purchase tickets to the game first. This is before the school allotment, and the savages on stubhub, ticket master, and ebay have their claws on them.

I have been to almost every VT game in FED EX because my father in law is a season ticket holder. He only has nosebleed seats (still not bad though) to Skins games but always gets first options for college games before the schools and public sales. EVERY VT game we have been in AMAZING CLUB LEVEL seats because of this early "first come option". We only paid asking price of like 50 dollars a piece. 50 yard line and you can have glass bottles, waiters bring your food or drinks to you and they are padded seats.

This is by far the best way to get the tickets, so I would recommend keeping an eye out for some Atlanta Falcon die hard season ticket holder fans that could get you a seat. Now Georgia Dome may not offer this but I would seriously doubt it.

Best of Luck. I will see ya there.

Big difference here...

A lot of us know Redskins fans because we live in Virginia/Maryland/etc. I know a handful of Falcons fans, but only one that has season tickets, one of my dad's frat brothers, and he's likely to only use his tickets for himself and a few of his closest friends, and we are nowhere close to the top of that list (his name also happens to be on a dorm, if that tells you anything...)

I am on the hunt

Right now i am on the search of Falcons fans to get the in but not much going. I do some contractor work for Chick Fil-a from time to time and also trying that route but...who knows.

I've never been to the Georgia Dome. How awful are the nosebleed seats? Is it worth the money to get the lower level seats?

My dad's season ticket renewal is how we'll be getting our tickets, so my friends and I need to decide soon how much we're willing to spend...

From what I remember

The stadium over-all wasn't too bad. I was there two years ago when Auburn thumped UVA in the Chik-fil-a bowl (Try being the only Hokie surrounded by Hoo's AFTER we demolished them 38-0 just a few weeks earlier...the reception wasn't friendly.. and YES...I was donning my VT gear very proudly)

I don't think it would be too bad to save some monies and buy the nose bleeds, I'll probably stick the middle range as far as pricing goes myself.

Nosebleeds are fine

There really aren't any bad seats there.

Sign of a well-designed stadium right there.

just dont fall off that upper deck like some people did at the UT v NCst game

Donor Applications for Game are due on 3/15

Friend of mine w/ higher priority is going to get the tickets so we can sit in a group instead of each getting our own scattered and we are going for the $90 lower level tickets. There can be up to 8 tickets for one application.

The prices right now are $130 club seats, $90 lower level, $85 Mezz, and $60 for upper. I had upper level tickets back in 2009 and they weren't that bad but I definitely think its worth the extra cash to go lower. I imagine student tickets might be around the same of having the option for $60 for upper level.

Should be a full audience for hopefully one of the biggest upsets in college football. There will be more people at Alabama's spring game than there is capacity at the GA Dome. Don't think the secondary market will be kind to people but I could be wrong.

Just in case anyone cares, parking passes are going for $100 online right now.

Rip his freaking head off!

If anyone of you guys hadn't already seen

"Students will be allowed to purchase tickets from the Virginia Tech allotment during the student season ticket ordering process. Seats are available for $30 and will be allocated in a special lower level student section at Georgia Dome. Seats will be allocated randomly within the student sections. Once all lower level seats have been allocated, the remaining seats will be filled in upper level seats."

Looks like tickets are going on sale this Thursday!!!! I'm so excited!!!

Where did you see this? I went to hokiesports and only saw season ticket information.

Twitter me

It's important to note that you can only buy Bama tickets if you are buying student season tickets at this time. General public sale and student ticket sale without a season pass is still unavailable.

Nope, not true. I just bought student tickets using the account of a current student and didn't have to buy season tickets. And I bought eight so there wasn't a low per person limit.

Strange, they presented it different. I may have to call up a friend and get them to buy tickets. You should only need a student ID to pick the tickets up but anybody can use them right?

I'm sure anybody can use them. If they're checking IDs, which I doubt will happen, I'm sure a quick "I didn't bring my ID with me to Atlanta, didn't think I'd need it" will suffice.

I'm thinking more for a ticket for my old man. I'm pretty sure the tickets they give you doesn't say anything special on it and the people at the gate don't care, but I don't want to be wrong either.

It won't be a problem as long as someone with a hokie passport and the credit card used for purchase picks em up.

#BEATBAMA tickets just went on sale 10 mins ago for students.

The only way to sit together with your friends is for one person to buy all the tickets, anyone think the other students will actually care about seating numbers?

Rip his freaking head off!

I can't imagine other students will be sticklers about it. As long as you're not taking someone's first row seats, you should be able to sit with your friends in the student section even though you're seats aren't actually next to each other.

Having never been an actual VT student... I'm unable to purchase tickets. (no student ID #)

sad day.

I live in Bristol and unfortunately do not attend Tech.

I have several friends that are students at tech.

So does this mean that they could pick me up a ticket when they purchase theirs?

"Tyrod, looking desperately, now throws it deep, has a man open, CAUUUGHT! Danny Coale, all the way!"

I have 3 favorite teams. VT, Kentucky, and whoever the hell is playing Tennessee.

Well I think you would need a friend that doesn't want to go so that you can use her student account to get your ticket. I don't think you can get the ticket as you. It would be under her name, you pay for it, then she pick it up.

No, you just need a friend that's a student to purchase ticket(s) and then pick them up at Cassell in August before the game. As far as I know there is no limit to how many tickets you can buy and there should just be normal tickets that students are given first chance to buy.

Yeah you're right, my bad. I interpreted her question wrong.

Bought my ticket today at 10:00 am through a friend who will be a student next year. I couldn't buy my own because I am unfortunately graduating, but I can't wait for Atlanta and to BEAT BAMA! Good Luck to all of those Hokies out there trying to get tickets.

Did VT just screw me out of $64?

Twitter me

I have a question about tailgating. I've never been to the Georgia Dome, but my sister said there is something called a Tailgating Pass for sale. Is that necessary? Are there bars within walking distance to the stadium that we could just go to before the game?

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

Yes there are bars right outside of the stadium.

What do most people do before the games? My experience with NFL stadiums is limited to FedEx Field (barren wasteland with ample parking) and the Superdome (no parking, but Bourbon Street)

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

Last two times I was at the Georgia dome, I tailgated in the parking lot. Just walked up with a case of beer. Not sure what the situation is if your parking though.

Twitter me

I have a ticket question again. It looks like I am not going to be able to get a friend to pick up student tickets. I still really want to go and I am willing to pay around $100 for a ticket, give or take. Do you think closer to time they will be cheaper? My 2 friends and I just refuse to pay $279 per ticket...

Public sale should start within a month or so I would imagine at which point you can just order them yourself and they will probably be mailed to you just like bowl tickets. They just may be around $60.

Alright, thanks! I didn't know how that would work. I hope someone on here watches out for that to notify everyone. I've been to the Georgia Dome many times, I don't care where the seats are! There isn't a nosebleed seat in that stadium.
