HOT DAMN, College Football in October is starting out with a bang or is it a Clang? There are 9 legit games I could have selected this week, but I went with the six match-ups featuring twelve ranked* top 25 teams. These games are highlighted by the SEC West .. now that the OOC portion of the schedule is almost over. Three of the six games this week feature ranked SEC West teams playing another ranked West team. The depth is unreal even by SEC standards. The worst team in the West, Arkansas would probably win the ACC Coastal or B1G Ten West or even the SEC East. You might not like it, but you have to (grudgingly) respect it.
* Yes, I am aware AP and Coaches rankings don't mean a damned thing, unless used to troll, get clicks and create controversy. Never mind, they mean a lot.
2013 was merely a blip on the radar for Mike Slive and the SEC
Another note, it's redemption week for Stanford, Michigan State and LSU who all lost to earlier this year to good teams. None of these teams can take a second loss and even think about the Playoff Four.

Saturday, October 4th
Texas A&M at Mississippi State -2.5

- Dan Mullen's best team since he's been at MSU and he's in what could end up being the best college division ever. #FAILSTATE
- I know the NFL will have an appeal to Kevin Sumlin, but at his salary of $5M, I hope he stays at aTm a long time, I want to see how far he can take the Aggies
Pick: Mississippi State. The Aggies are flawed and will take a 3 losses this year, the first this weekend to teamClanga.

- For being an universal playoff team (currently) it sure seems like OU is flying under the radar ... that's a positive
- Remember the chatter a few years back about if TCU and Gary Patterson were in a major conference they'd win just as much there ... ahem 14-14 since

The Grove is undefeated and finally Ole Miss is too, so Gameday can now go
- Tip your cap to Lane Kiffin and give a nod to Nick Saban ... again. We should know better than doubt, now lets see if he can rejuvenate Charlie Weis
- Gameday hysteria and Hugh Freeze holy rolling are the only chances Ole Miss has vs a better coached collection of talent
Pick: Alabama covering. I don't trust Dr. Bo in big time moments, even if the Tide's secondary is their worst unit.

Stanford -1.5 at Notre Dame

- ND's first real test. As of now most of us have ignored the Blue and Gold, a win here and the nation is put on notice
- If the Tree wants to win out, Kevin Hogan needs to get a lot better. Year three as a starter and he looks worse now than as a freshman
Pick: Stanford by a touchdown. The Tree are flawed, but battle hardened, in what's basically a pick 'em give me that little edge.

Overcompensating for something or uber redneck shirt gun?
- As good as they are something feels off with both teams, this is the type of win that can jump-start a season though
- Les Miles logic defying moments vs Gus Malzahn play calling ability. The college football equivalent of Right vs Left Brain
Pick: Auburn covering, but I am not confident. LSU sending out a true freshman for his first start at QB in Jordan-Hare ... good luck with that.

- Contrary to talking heads hyperbole, the B1G's Playoff chances aren't dead, but it is limited to these 2 and maybe tOSU. Gonna be more limited after Saturday
- Is it just me or is weird to see both teams, under these coaches, scoring so many points? That's not very B1G

Beer of the Week
The Bruery Sour in the Rye
Sour yeast and bacteria did a number on this beer as it aged in oak barrels for over a year creating a sour ale with a complex character of rye spice, oak and a subtle funk. Was gifted this last year. Aged it myself for a bit, and now it's time split it with the the friend who gave it to me ... while watching the night match-ups. Cheers.
