2016 QB Augie DeBiase Update

Continuing check-ins with some of the players on Tech's radar, I got to talk to 2016 QB Augie DeBiase of Jacksonville, Fla., a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.

The Hokies have already received a verbal commitment from a quarterback for the 2016 class in Logan Byrd, but Scot Loeffler is keeping tabs on DeBiase.

"I still love Coach Loeffler," DeBiase said. "I'm really trying to go to a game at some point this year, and I'm happy for their success so far."

Tech remains DeBiase's only offer so far, but he was spending some time with another school on his radar this past weekend when he visited Alabama for the Crimson Tide's game against Florida on an unofficial visit.

"It was a great experience, talking to Coaches Kiffin and Smart before and after the game," DeBiase said. "They just said to keep working hard and I could have a good future there."

Loeffler does seem to like taking multiple quarterbacks in the same class, as demonstrated by the duo of Chris Durkin and Andrew Ford, so long as the Hokies can beat off SEC challengers like Alabama, DeBiase could have a place in Blacksburg.
