He was their leading returning rusher. Now they have lost the top 3 rushers from last year.

I guess they'll just have to increase the use of chop blocks.

I've been cutting back on the drinking.

Will his backup be even better against the Hokies?

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

He already was, last year.

Both GT's backup QB Matthew Jordan and backup RB (excuse me, BB) Marcus Marshall ran all over us. Mills didn't play.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Marshall transferred out after the season and none of their QBs have seized the starting position yet.

Didn't know Marshall left.

Remember how bad GT was in 2015 after they lost all their offensive production from the prior year? Looks like it's gonna happen again.

Yeah, Marcus Marshall ended up transferring to JMU (where his father played as well).

I'm only a little surprised he didn't take a redshirt and follow his brother's footsteps to UGA.

We out gained them by over 100 yards but still managed to lose badly. It was just one of those days...

Weren't pretty much all of our yards in garbage time? I remember thinking they kicked our ass watching it live

I remember Der'woun Greene fumbling that opening kickoff and thinking "here we go." At one point I think Joey Slye beamed a field goal off the back of our long snapper's head.

Marshall University student.
Virginia Tech fanatic.

Doesn't look like it. Given the B-back is such a central part of their offense, this seems to be a big problem for them.

I cant wait until GT inevitably fires paul johnson and we can stop watching their infuriating offense.

Sorry.... I am angry that I havent had a beer yet and Paul Johnson is an easy target. I'm going to go change that.

Happy Weekend Hokies.

No need to apologize for that sentiment. I think it pretty much covers everyone who plays them. It's one thing to play a unique style of offense. It's another when that style is predicated on a technique that is universally agreed to result in a dangerous situation when not executed perfectly.

The downside is I'm not sure what it will take for them to actually fire him. If they pull the trigger on that, it's acknowledging the fact that they'll suck for at least 2-3 seasons until they can transition the personnel back to normal. What incoming coach would want to deal with that? I think PJ's teams have to go through a prolonged (like 4 straight seasons) slump in order to get him canned, because your going to go through something similar regardless when you do get rid of him.

I'm a football nerd so I love watching Paul Johnson teams.

Yea but it's one of the worst offenses to lose to.

Sometimes I like to leave off the /s just to mess with people.

Yeah, but with all their damn running at least the game goes by extremely fast.

Dedrick Mills.... you've been

FOSTERS: Australian for defense

Big Fat Meh for me.. Regardless of who is the "B" back., they will rush for a ton of yards, every and any "completion" against D1 competition will come off a broken play or QB scramble, they will shuttle every play in like high school teams do, their OL will pass block from a 3 point stance, they will have 2-3 WIDE open huge running plays against Bud Foster, their 4.8 40 guys will gains 300 yards on the ground against UGA's SEC/NFL guys, etc etc etc. As long as Paul Johnson and his gimmick triple option spread is there, unless they have 4 turnovers a game, they are going to win between 7-9 games. 10 if the QB is special, less than 7 if they commit 100 turnovers... IIWII- you dont see that offense but once a year. Modern college FB defenders- especially elite 4-5 star players don't like being cut blocked all game and don't want to deal with it. Johnson is a master at subtle adjustments and much smarter than 19 year old Defensive lineman and linebackers, and 8 minute drives are routine. For me, losing Mills is not a factor at all, especially for our game. They will get their yards, it will be close and the team that fumbles the most will lose- our chances also decrease if Cornelson is afraid to pass against their mediocre defense on 3rd and 8 early in the game- but I digress. Couch Fu admitted they pressed early on offense last year, affraid of the GT offense holding the ball and scoring too much. Johnson has been there 9 years now..that garbage "works" in the ACC and it "works" in the P5- he knows what he is doing and he can't leave our division/retire soon enough for me- I hate the GT game more than any other.
