BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell said senior cornerback Brandon Facyson (wrist) is still not full-speed in practice, but is getting more work in than what the coaches anticipated following his offseason surgery.
"We're getting more out of him than I thought I would. He's getting into some drills right now, non-contact drills. He's getting some good football in."
Mitchell said he doesn't know if Facyson, who has battled injuries throughout his college career, will be available to play in the Hokies' Sept. 3 opener against West Virginia.

Mitchell said he's comfortable with the depth at his position, with sophomore Jovonn Quillen and redshirt freshman Tyree Rogers also progressing as backup corners.
