But 9E isn't three times 8 in any counting system I know of o.o

Actually..... 9e (the constant) is around 24.45 and 8*3 is 24 so with some generous rounding it does work out

Being that it's a spherical droid, I think rounding is acceptable.

Since Jedi can refer to either male or female persons, the correct Spanish phrase would be: Los Jedi.

Of course, the word Jedi in Spanish is phonetically pronounced "hay-dee". But everyone down here in Latin America are so swamped with North American cultural icons that they pronounce Jedi just like we do up north.

But if you have a group that you know is entirely comprised of female Jedi wouldn't it be Las Jedi?

Yes, that would be correct Spanish grammar.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Dunno when I'll see this one, but expect to later on in its theater run. I hope this isn't a rehash of "The Empire Strikes Back," just as the last one was for "A New Hope."

I ended up really enjoying "Rogue One," especially when compared to Episode VII

I loved Rogue One, and felt very lukewarm about TFA; here's hoping they capture some more grittiness in this one.

9.1 on imdb compared to 8.1 for the first one.

Also heard this director took more chances to make the plot better which (lack of plot) would be my only complaint about the first one.

We will probably wait till after Christmas. I like Star Wars but I'm not a big enough fan to see it so early considering the hype. I'll leave those tickets for others. Those who are seeing it this weekend though, enjoy!

I have this feeling that they Rey is going to level up as a Jedi. Kind like in Dragonball Z the Saiyan's can go super Saiyan. This the last Jedi is Luke and Rey is something completely new.

What's
Important
Now

Jedi is the plural of Jedi. Rey may become a Jedi. Or she may choose not to put her faith in hokey religions.

Sorry, new star wars sucks. Where is Han Solo? And no i dont mean the actual han solo but his character. Some cool dude who cracks jokes in the face of danger and is generally a badass thats likeable. All the characters in new star wars just seem like secondary supporting actors. Theyre all weak and watered down to me. Even the bad guy is just a whiny baby with mommy and daddy issues (i mean its ok to have issues but dont admit it if youre a super villian who wants to rule the universe). I Think they could all use a little dose of testosterone and maybe a little less "who am i and do i believe in myself to know who i am and what i want to think i believe...about me?" time.

well to be fair as you said Solo was actually in the first movie. The question is will there be someone introduced in this movie or next.

To be fair, I was left underwhelmed by the first movie. It seemed to try and rehash the original trilogy over 2 hours. Not only that but the two youngins were adept at everything from the get go. I mean Rey being able to go toe to toe with a Ren who was using the force for years like it's nothing kind of irked me a bit.

I'm hoping that it was just them cramming too much fan service in one movie and assisting new viewers and the next one makes more sense....

The rest of your point is well taken (and shared by many), but

I mean Rey being able to go toe to toe with a Ren who was using the force for years like it's nothing kind of irked me a bit.

That one doesn't bother me so much. They had established many times throughout the movie that Chewie's bolt caster was a devastating weapon for an armored stormtrooper to take a hit from. Kylo takes one to the midsection and is shown slapping it throughout his fight with Rey. To me, that's a pretty big handicap.

I would have so much damn respect for the writers if they pulled this off. it would make one of the worst parts about the prequel somewhat bearable.

"Some days you’re a horse and some days you’re a horse’s ass. I’ve been a horse’s ass for a little while." - Roy Halladay

I wonder if that could be the entire focus of the plot for the Obi-Won Kenobi movie beginning production in the next couple years.

Wouldn't that make her OWK's granddaughter or great granddaughter? He was old enough to be Anakin's dad when they met. He was old when Han and Leia were young, and their kid is about the same age or older than Rey. And (spoiler alert), he died a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

So... I know we're all about the massive hype for this movie... and rightfully so....

But I just read that Quentin Tarantino is currently developing a script for the next Star Trek movie... I'm not sure what to think about that.

It could be the kick in the pants that franchise desperately needs. Could you imagine Tarantino taking on a full on Federation vs Klingon or Borg war? Could be extremely entertaining, while at the same time royally pissing off the super Trek fanbois, which would be an added bonus.

(look, I get why people like the original Star Trek and want to stick to that utopian future, but that ST world vs a QT ST world is like the difference between A New Hope, which cold opens with a Rebel ship under attack by a Star Destroyer, and The Phantom Menace which cold opens with a trade negotiation)

As nerded out as this will make me sound, you would have to research the canon on lightsaber color these days. It is not the way it used to be in the old and now not canon Expanded Universe. It is however interesting. Basically the Kyber crystals are more or less alive, and react to the users overall abilities and actions.

The double bladed just needs to make another appearance in my opinion though.

I'm just saying... give me a Star Wars game that is primarily large scale space dogflighting, and you can take ALL my money. Well... yeah, I am looking for a modern Call of Duty/Battlefront take on TIE Fighter. Give me enormous sets in the middle of massive battles over numerous sets in time (from the Naboo starfighter era to the TFA X-wing) with options to pilot a variety of ships in each era with the kind of scale you see in these modern multiplayer games.

BF2 came close, real close to achieving this.... I think their next game needs to go all-in with it.

I bought tickets for 7 pm at the Alexandria AMC. I still have not seen this movie. Apparently no one in this theater has as they are still trying to load the movie onto the projectors.
First, they told us there was a problem with a trailer, but not the actual movie. Then, it became "it'll be another 30 minutes". After 2 hours they finally said "it's loaded 79%." Currently it's at 87%. Apparently there is some sort of server issue??
And the refund line is quite long, so trying to get a refund to see it elsewhere might mean it takes longer than if I stuck it out.
So I've chosen to listen to Palpatine and let the hate flow.

Just got home from a 10:15 showing. Long movie. Great movie. Going to see it at least 1 maybe 2 more times. I love moviepass.

Heading to an early morning show that is advertised as "kid free" we shall see what that means.

Kid Free or Kids Free? Hahhahah

If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous! With treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid...

I scrolled all the way to the bottom so I didn't read any comments but is this thread spoiler free? If so can we mark it NO SPOILERS and make a separate spoilers thread?

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

No Spoilers yet. I can make that change.

My first viewing is tomorrow night at 10:30PM.

Since MoviePass is allowing multiple viewings of each movie, you can bet I'm probably gonna be at River Ridge most nights next week.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

I think we're going to wait till next Friday and go during the day since I'm off (and she has finals into next week) so if you're there around then I might be there too haha. We are going to see Disaster Artist tonight though. Don't want to dive into the chaos of Star Wars right now considering the crowds. enjoy!

*Protip*

Don't go to the restroom during this movie as A LOT of stuff happens throughout the entire movie.

*Spoiler Free Opinion*

Without giving away any spoilers this movie had some of the best scenes in all the Star Wars movies and some of the worst also.

Very solid movie IMO. Will most likely go see it again.

It was a catch!

If I made a funny comment I probably stole it from Reddit.

I used Force Piss 3 times during the last 30 minutes leading up.

Some of the stills in the movie are just out of this world. You can make some great desktop wallpapers and wall posters out of this movie.

^ this.

I cannot wait to get some new desktop / phone wallpapers out of this.

So my spoiler free abridged review that nobody needs:
Great Movie, better than The Force Awakens, but not better than any of the Original Trilogy. There are a few key scenes in this that could potentially be my favorite of the whole saga, though. I will need to see it again to really consider that.
Overall, It did not go the way I thought.. 🤔

I'm known to be a negative nancy, but I thought The Force Awakens was much better. This one dragged on and could have cut a half hour. Also, as a cinematography nerd, I felt that it was extremely dramatic but not in the best ways.

Overall, great story, but could have been executed better. Glad JJ will be directing Ep 9.

Pretty good movie might have enjoyed it more if the guy next to me wasn't methodically rubbing and twisting and such with his paper ticket the WHOLE GODDAMN MOVIE!!

Honestly, I'd rather watch movies at home in this day and age. There's a reason "home theater" has become a phrase. Also, someone needs to invent silent plastic bags for candy because I wanted to deck the girl eating candy behind me a couple of times last night.

"Hokie religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Han Solo

Why do theaters use candy boxes? Who know how hard it is to get raisonettes out of a box silently??

Man I sat beside this guy during thor who had a bag of popcorn (buckets are so much quieter). He was eating that thing like a cannibal. After a while he started balling it up and tearing it up and I'm like Okay he's done thank goodness. Nope, he opens it back up and starts eating more after that. Then again he starts balling it up and tearing it and starts eating it again. Finally he finishes his popcorn and balls up the bag. Then he starts coughing and hacking and making all sorts of weird bodily noises. Yeesh. Always and adventure.

I saw it last night in an Alamo theater and felt bad, so I didn't report it, but I had a family sitting in the row beside me where I think one of the kids had some form of Tourette's or Schizophrenia. At random intervals during the movie, the kid would whisper loudly "shut up", and "shut the fuck up", and stand up and sit down. It was distracting while it was happening, but luckily, in the 2 and a half hour movie, it maybe distracted from 3 minutes...

I didn't want to be responsible for getting a kid kicked out of Star Wars...

You should have angrily crumpled it up after the movie and told him to go sit in the student section

If only they stayed in the student section. Also I asked him twice to stop and he didn't even acknowledge I talked to him. So I was concerned he might be deaf or something so didn't want to make a scene.

Sooo Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 93% from critics but a 56% from Audience. I haven't seen it yet so can anyone give me a spoiler free run down on why the audience hates it? Do they just not like the new direction?

This is why I never bother to read the audience reviews. Audience rating is 79% for Justice League.

The most I could tell you without ruining it is:

They are drifting away from the classic feel and establishing a "new era" if you will. Basically setting the stone for the Disney era of Star Wars and enunciating the fact that they are in control.

Also, I think the answers given and certain resolutions offered did not sit well with people, at least initially. I felt a bit unsatisfied at first but I believe that is because I had built up my own way for this story to go. I saw it again yesterday, and it was much more enjoyable the second time when I could just sit and watch; not waiting in anticipation of things that never happened.

I enjoyed the movie, though it is not my favorite in the series. Without going into details, I would say that there are a lot of elements that feel rushed/incomplete, a lot of jumping around, and other parts of the plot that seem entirely unnecessary. I felt like a 2 hour, 45 minute movie could have easily been cut down to 2 hours flat without losing anything of value.

Someone astutely pointed out in the spoiler thread that NONE of the Star Wars films would hold up well to the level of criticism this one is facing from the audience reviews. There are flaws, but overall it's one of the more enjoyable films in the franchise.

And yeah, I think that a lot of people had ideas for how they wanted it to play out and some of the changes in direction have people upset. Personally I think it's probably my 3rd or 4th ranked film in the whole set as of right now.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

See it but don't go with the super high expectations reading the critics reviews will give you.

I didn't like it because I found it lame expected better, simple as that.

I finally saw it this afternoon. I thought it was great. It isn't perfect. It is a much better middle movie than Attack of the Clones. You will have to see it for yourself to determine how close or how far it is to Empire Strikes Back. I feel some characters were shown too much while one or two I thought would have a bigger presence really didn't. Nothing new is as bad as Jar-Jar, however. I think these first two films have set a good precedence for the third.
