Is Jerod Evans a Packer?

Back in September Jerod worked out with the Packers according to this article. Here's the tweet from the article.

And then this comes across my Instagram:

Edit: It's official, Jerod Evans signed to Packers' practice squad.

He will wear #9.

The Packers worked him out, but nothing official from the team regarding any kind of signing yet. I'll be tracking this one for the rest of the day.

There aren't many organizations more serious about player development than the Packers. They go get the guys they want and coach em up.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

They got a good tight end

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Shouldn't have gotten in a gif war while at school because my school blocks most of the gifs on this site

spoiler alert, it stayed pretty tame after you TOTALLY CROSSED THE LINE /s. A classy bunch, us Packers fans

As a Lions fan this breaks my heart but I'm happy for him. (Lions fans are just jealous of how well run an organization the Packers have)

Great opportunity to learn and develop as others have mentioned.

The Packers are probably in the top three organizations in the NFL. I love the fact they are the only publicly owned team.

Seems like very encouraging remark. Sure wish him the best. If he could play during the game with Notre Dame last year and come back from 24 points behind, he should almost be prepared to play in the cold of Greenbay.

Official. Just announced he's been signed to their practice squad.

SO THIS IS WHAT YOU GUYS FEEL LIKE WHEN A HOKIE GETS SIGNED TO AN NFL SQUAD!!

That team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

I really want Jerod to stick in the NFL. Happy for him.

I'm a bit surprised they haven't given Kaepernick a serious look after what he did to them in back-to-back playoff games.

FREE THE "STICK IT IN" CHANT!!!

More importantly... who is she ^^

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

I don't know man. She gives me that Isla Fisher vibe. I'd steer clear.

Studying for my captain's license right now and this gif is likely incorrect.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

As a Lions fan, I despise the Packers. However, I am happy for Jerod and will root for him except for the 2 games when we play.

As a Cowboys fan, ...its a good thing Aaron Rodgers already beat us in some heart breaking fashion, instead of it being Evans. Boy that would've hurt so bad. Anyway, I wish him nothing but success!!!!

The last 22 years has been painful enough!

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

smh...tell me about it.

That is good news! I guess his foot is patched back up. Hopefully he makes the most of it, Aaron Rodgers seems like he would be a QB to understudy.

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

I really hope so, but Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien didn't do much in their post-GB years to prove that

Flynn got a huge (undeserved) deal from the Seahawks and I think Tolzein got a shot at starting. They fell on their face, but at least they got more of a shot than most UDFAs. It seems like that happens most with players who back-up great players. How many back-ups behind Tom Brady get considered for starting roles on struggling teams. Jerod got a great gig here.

Good point, getting contracts and any chance to be the guy for another team is better than most of those guys probably would have done otherwise

I love the fact that Aaron Rodgers called the plays that got Flynn that huge contract from the Seahawks.

What other QBs are on Greenbay?

Recruit Prosim

Brett Hundley, obviously, and Joe Callahan was promoted to the active roster right before Evans was signed to the PS. Callahan has been decent in preseason games and the staff really likes him. I'm afraid it's quite a mountain to climb for Jerod.

Also FWIW, at Wesley College, Callahan won the Gagliardi Trophy, D-III's Heisman-equivalent

But..But... you only get to the NFL if you go to a blue blood.

Evans should be safe on the practice squad for this year. The Packers carry two active QB's and always have somebody with good potential on the practice squad. I think Hundley is in the last year of his rookie contract so they were probably looking for a replacement anyway.

Agreed, but Hundley has a year left after this one.

My Dream Scenario: Hundley is good enough to get the Pack in the playoffs. Evans impresses enough on the PS that Ted Thompson makes a deal with Hundley for some real OL depth.

What will most likely happen: Hundley goes 3-6 the rest of the season, Packers miss the playoffs, Ted Thompson lets yet another crucial element of the OL leave in FA, and Rodgers is still running for his life for the rest of his prime.

I wish I could melt this clip down and just inject it into my veins

The end part of that run was right in front of us in the stands. We were losing our minds.

I really hope Ted can fix that OL. He normally does a really good job.

I'm just butt hurt about losing TJ Lang to the friggin Lions of all teams. I don't care what he was asking to get paid, he deserved every penny of it. I am glad we got Bakhtiari locked down for a few years and at the price we did last year though

I seriously threw my remote across the room when I got word we let Lang sign with them

That team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

He had been one of my favorites ever since his tweet in response to the replacement ref game where Russell Wilson threw the only game-winning interceptchdown in NFL history

And he was always the first to defend guys whenever Suh did something stupid
