The only news here is that ESPN thinks this in October.

I don't see how this is news. Miami is bak after 5 games. This happens annually.

Fair enough, I guess I should have said late October.

According to ESPN FPI, Miami has a 40% chance of winning the ACC. The Hokies have a 3% chance.

According to me, there is a 0% chance Miami has ever won the ACC.

60% of the time ESPN is wrong everytime!

6-5, 10-1-1, 2-9, 3-8, 6-4-1, 6-5, 5-6, 2-8-1, 9-3, 8-4, 10-2, 10-2, 7-5, 9-3, 11-1, 11-1, 8-4, 10-4, 8-5, 10-3, 11-2, 10-3, 11-3, 10-4, 10-3, 11-3, 11-3, 7-6, 8-5, 7-6, 7-6, 10-4.......

Even if you assume Miami was a lock for the Coastal (a big assumption in itself) I wouldn't give them a 40% chance of winning the ACCCG. That's just way too high to me.

The doll's trying to kill me and the toaster's been laughing at me.

Glad that settles that. No chance they don't win it now.

Cannot wait to send them bak where they came from.

Okay.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

Glad we cleared that up

BREAKING NEWS: ESPN posts article designed to get clicks and views!!!

HOKIES

Ironically enough, I work with a Miami fan (from Virginia, never been to a Miami home game) who's spent all week talking about the future, specifically who he'd rather face in the ACCCG.

I just sit there silently, anxiously awaiting November 4th.

Remember that time when Miami came as close as they ever had to winning anything in the ACC? I believe it was their first year in and they went into their regular season finale with a chance to come out as co-champions of the league if they won. Then we beat them in their own house (ok, the orange bowl, but as close to their house as you'll ever get) and kept the title for ourselves...

I remember our guys dancing on the U...

And laughing how we got ourselves a de facto ACC championship game a year early.

Still waiting on their fans to be bak...

The answer, of course, will be revealed on November 4.

The way to prove they're not bak is to beat them.

They're 5-0, so until someone beats them, they're bak. UVa (at 5-1 and tied for first in the ACC) as well. So someone needs to get busy winning.

I didn't know Dinich dabbled in video production too.

This reeks of Dinich

It truly is amazing how much hype they are getting for a team with arguably no good wins. Hell, they have two miracle wins against middling teams and everyone acts like they are world beaters. They are going to get shithoused against the first legit team they face. I just hope it doesn't happen before we head down there, because a win over this kind of over hyped team would be an amazing rankings booster.

"Some days you’re a horse and some days you’re a horse’s ass. I’ve been a horse’s ass for a little while." - Roy Halladay

If 7-1 VT beats 7-0 Miami, you know the narrative will absolutely be, "Well maybe Miami isn't as good as we thought, since they got beat by a VT team that hasn't really beaten anybody either."

Nah not with that win over WVU on the resume. I've been noticing the mindset about VT changing over the last couple years. In the past, you'd be right, they'd be looking to downplay our wins, but now, they tend to hype us when they have the chance, and my opinion on why is that we now have the style points that they can sell. 10 years ago, we were winning games with defense, defense, defense with an offense that couldn't stop humping the doorknob. We won, but we rarely looked good doing so, and most years we'd play our pasties way too close for comfort. Now? We're not only winning, but when we do, we make it look good. Its causing people to believe in us again.

So if we beat Miami, we'll get a big bump. At the same time, you'll start to get the 'who has Miami really beaten?' as soon as they drop their first game.

Fair points. The good thing about the polls is that they tend not to look into the nitty-gritty all that much.

My analytical brain (and having watched every VT game) would tell me that blowing out crummy teams like ECU & ODU doesn't tell us too much, the Delaware game was underwhelming even while pitching a shutout, and there were points left on the table against BC. WVU looks solid this year, so that's a plus, but the Clemson game shows a pretty big gap.

Voters in the polls aren't going to look at all that though. I think we're getting the benefit of the doubt from a lot of voters because of our record so far in 2017, what Fuente did last year plus his reputation with offense. And hey, I'm okay with that!

Yeah, you want to be on the favorable side. You want to be on the side that people will overlook an occasional hiccup while they're singing your praises. This is why style points matter. People take notice when you beat the piss out of teams, even if they're really bad. The thrashings we put on BC and ECU last year and ECU again this year are good for the program because it makes people want to tune in and watch. Its why BC was a 7:30 kickoff a couple weeks ago and why Duke is a 7:20 kickoff next week. People want to watch teams that can throttle someone, and right now, we fit that mold.

This is why Miami is walking on dangerous ground right now. FSU and GT aren't exactly great teams this year, and it took miracles for Miami to escape both with wins. They are going to trip up, and when they do, they will fall out of good graces quick, because they just don't have the style points right now. Those pats on the back for gutting out those last couple wins will turn to "should have lost" with the first stumble they have, and I hope we're the ones to trip them up.

Do you mean "patsies"? Because I'm really hoping you mean "patsies".

I know what I said, and yes, it was intentional

In earlier TKP years, this would be the way to have the thread degenerate into questionable NSFW gifs.
