Firstly, let me just say that I am really happy with where the team is at this point in the season. 5-1 with the lone loss to possibly the best team in the country, including exorcism of the FedEx field curse at the expense of the Cousins? Hell yeah I'll take that with a rFr QB and a bunch of youth at the skill positions. I love the direction that program is heading.
My main concern centers around tackling. At this point in the season, it looks to my untrained eye that there a few too many instances of the first guy to arrive at the ball-carrier not making the tackle. With the way that Foster's defense is designed to funnel a ball-carrier to a free hitter, if the free hitter isn't bringing the guy down, we could be giving up a lot of extra yards and big plays.
I want to hear everyone's opinion on this. Is it a real issue, or more of a perception thing? Is it just physics, where a smaller tackler is being asked to bring down a larger or slipperier ball-carrier? Is fatigue involved, due to uptempo offenses and a lack of depth? What does the most reaonable forum on the internet have to say?
