Roanoke Area Watch Parties (TKPC or Hokie Club)?

Are there any watch parties that happen in the Roanoke area for away games? I understand watch parties not being as popular for home games since Roanoke is so close. I'm pretty jealous of all The Key Players in NoVA having all the fun. Perhaps maybe we can throw something together down here.

I've tried contacting Roanoke Valley Hokie Club through Facebook, email, etc. to see if they do anything special on gameday and haven't received any answers.

no response from the Hokie club?

Yeah, not sure why I was surprised by that, honestly.

It was a catch!

If I made a funny comment I probably stole it from Reddit.

It's because we don't have enough money. If you want to get a response you need to join the Hokie Club.

Not aware of any but let us know what you find out.

I usually just go to a bar with a buddy or just watch it at home. Ironically for the WVU game, Beamer's closed at 10:30 pm (between 3rd and 4th quarters) so we switched over to Cornerstone.

I haven't tried going to Cornerstone yet for a game. Does it normally have a good atmosphere? I haven't been there in a couple years. I normally go to Bdubs, but I'll admit I'm getting a bit tired of it.

Atmosphere-wise it is much better for U.S. soccer because the outlaws watch games there. It tends to be less crowded and more sports focused than other downtown bars except for Awful Arthur's. I like Cornerstone in general so I like it but I can't objectively say I would recommend it for a VT game (not huge tvs, kinda cramped).

We would have gone to Allsports in Grandin but we heard that was the WVU watch party location (although then I saw something on FB about Awful's being the spot for WVU fans). If not for the drive, I bet Allsports in Salem has a good atmosphere for VT games. I haven't been but when I ate lunch there they had signs up about VT games and it looks like they have a big projector screen, etc. and the Salem location should be full of VT fans.

More details coming soon.

Doesn't look like there is anything Official for the Roanoke area. I'm guessing either because the info isn't updated, yet, or enough of the members are STH that they don't have anyone to run them. I'd email as suggested and see if there are any unofficial spots.

I believe the Roanoke chapter is going to be an extension of the NRV Hokies, as that chapter is understandably large.

That's who I've emailed. No answers....

Ahh ok,, that's the Alumni Chapter, not Hokie Club. Probably worth also asking on their Facebook page if anyone knows anything. I know between email and facebook, in our chapter we try to get as much as we can.

What about Beamer's in downtown Roanoke? You'd think there would be a great deal of Hokies watching the game there. Great Burgers.... and beer....

Beamer's is hit or miss in terms of VT fans watching games. I was there and it wasn't very busy so they closed by 10:30 p.m. during the WVU game. So we had to leave right at end of 3rd quarter.

The Roanoke Alumni association is in the new planning stages for game watch parties. They in the past had most members going to the games. I will get an email when the watch parties are set up and I'll post it here.

Gracias.

All I'm getting is radio silence from everyone.

How about inviting a bunch of friends over to your house on Saturday and then seeing where it goes from there.

If you want to be invited to parties, you have to throw a few...
