OT: Homebrewing tips from TKP

Beer is good. The world (specifically me) can always use more beer.

For these reasons, I have decided to begin brewing my own. I've seen from the tailgate threads and beer threads that a decent chunk of TKP's population also does the same. As someone just getting started, I would be very appreciative of any advice you wonderful people can provide. But first, some background into my operation.

To begin with, I'm doing this with a friend who shall be referred to as Brew Bud. We've been talking about it for a while now and decided this past week to pull the trigger on ordering our first starter kit. BB and I got two 1-gallon systems. We wanted the flexibility to try multiple recipes at a time and settle on solid ones before trying our hand on a larger volume. We plan on upgrading in a few months or so once we get the hang of it.

I think we have all the necessary things that aren't included in the kit - brushes, funnel, bottles, etc. In addition, I decided to make my own chiller (below) as I didn't feel like having to keep buying ice for an ice bath or wait that long for it to cool.

I worked in a brewpub so I'm familiar with the brewing process and have done a fair amount of research on my own but every bit helps. That's the gist of what I have so far and appreciate any tips you have for me.

P.S. Yes, I know everything needs to be cleaner than the seats at a UVA spring game.

P.P.S Me and BB are also open to potential names for our "Brewery" as well as any beers.
