Mike Barber penned an excellent story on the passing of Caleb Farley's mother and the adversity he's overcome. There's also a sub-theme of all the locker room support Farley received. That struck a cord with me considering all the rumblings heard throughout the offseason.
It's a terrific read, and worth your time this morning: https://www.richmond.com/sports/college/schools/virginia-tech/after-moth....
When Fuente learned of Robin's death, he called Farley, a redshirt freshman. While obviously devastated by the loss of his mother, Farley had that familiar positive outlook, the same one he had after suffering a serious knee injury his first year in college. It's the same one he inherited from his mom.
"I think that's a gift," Fuente said. "He's got that gift. He's got a great outlook. He's got a great family. To me, not everyone can do that. I'm certainly not sure I'd be able to do that in those situations, and it's something we admire about him."
