Mock Drafts....Get Your Mock Drafts Here!

There is going to be one metric shit-ton of mock NFL drafts between now and April, so I thought I'd start a thread for discussion of them.

First up, today's (19 Feb) mock from CBS, which has Tremaine to the Bears at 8, and Settle to the Falcons at 26...

In the latest mailbag on the dallas cowboys site, one writer answers the question of who he would consider trading up for with tremaine.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

I only like the ones that had Tremaine to da Raiders, need a valid excuse to get a new Jersey...

Yeah that Trapasso guy is drinking on the job, no way Baker Mayfield goes #1 overall in a class that features 3 prototypical NFL QBs, all of which need a little work, but project better in the long term. Also Barkley doesn't fall to #9, someone will trade up if he is still on the board past the Browns at 4.

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

Yeah, I thought Mayfield at 1 was a bit silly, but the Browns also passing on Barkley at four was crazy. No way that happens. Whatever QB they take will need a better running game to lean on. They've already got the line, they just need the horses.

If you're not sure if my comment warrants a "/s", it probably does.

There is no way on God's green earth the Colts trade down and leave a much needed running back on the draft board. Plus with Cousin's most likely getting a huge pay day from the Jets, the jets arent moving up anymore.

It's a deep RB draft, though. Colts have such a razor thin roster from years of terrible Grigson drafts that they're probably better off trading down out of #3 and trying to plug some holes in the roster.

yea i actually look at some topics on this yesterday and it changed my mind. RB would be nice but OL and DL are a huge area of concern. Plus if Luck is out again why not suck it up one more year to fill some more holes.

Hearing a few rumors that Settle might be a big target of the Eagles at #32, assuming they don't trade down.

Leg for seeing what you did there

I'm just saying, if there is one defense under which he could absolutely thrive, its that one. Imagine him settling into a rotation with Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Derek Barnett. That's the kind of DL that coaches dream of.

Saw a couple mocks calling for that on bleedinggreen.

Putting Settle into that DT rotation and having him play 25-30 or so snaps a game as he gets conditioned would be a great scenario for him. That would be a scary D line

There was a recent mock from Bleacher Report saying the same.

The browns just need to take the best 2 players available with their first two picks and make it rain on kirk cousins in FA. A rookie QB isnt going to survive there.

If the Browns were smart:
1. Sign Cousins
2. Select Barkley at 1
3. Select Tremaine at 4 and put him on the edge, opposite Myles Garrett

Gonna go way out on a limb here and say the Browns aren't smart.

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

While I think it would be smart for the Browns to land Cousins, it's not going to happen. Word is that Cousins wants to play for a team that can win now. The Browns....ain't that team.

Taking Barkley at 1 would be a smart move, though, allowing them to pick a QB at four. I'm sure there are multiple that they would be happy with, and all three options (whichever three they like) won't be gone at 4. I think the Colts stay pat and pick Chubb.

The way that I look at it, if Cousins goes to Denver/Jville/Minny hes expected to take them deep in the playoffs/SB every year. In Cleveland, if he finishes 8-8 they're having parades and putting up statues of him.

You're probably right. but for ~30 mil bucks a year, I could see it being a possibility.

Cousins wants to go somewhere he could win, I think that eliminates Cleveland. The only way the Browns are in the race for his service is to throw in a free Brinks truck with his contract.

I read somewhere earlier that the jets were considering a 5 year 150m deal. I'd say that classifies as a Brinks truck.

Btw that is stupid money. I can't wait to see what happens when they need to pay a qb who really warrants paying. A deal for an Aaron Rogers type is going to be ridiculous.

considering Garoppolo just got 5/$137.5m from the niners without the benefit of an open market, 5/$150m seems low

Cousins wants to go somewhere he could win

Guess that also counts out Buffalo.

We put the K in Kwality

I hope buffalo never wins another game

I hope Tyrod goes to Denver and they give him $151m.

Then they should trade down to grab Tre if they are really smart. He will be available after 4 for sure.

As a native Atlantan and life long Falcons fan I support this

I'd be happy, but I wonder how good of a fit Settle would be next to Jarrett. I'd read something during the season that Poe was a good pickup for the Falcons because Poe allowed Jarrett to move over to the position that fit him better. Can't recall exactly what was said (I'm guessing that Poe was a space-eater at nose and that allowed Jarrett to move to the 3-technique?), but I wonder if Settle and Jarrett might be too similar to make that happen again. Would be nice for somebody who understands DT positionings and technique to chime in here.

If you're not sure if my comment warrants a "/s", it probably does.

I think the idea would be that he's the long-term replacement for Poe.

New one from CBS, looks a little more realistic at the top end (but no Tremaine or Tim). Assumes Cousins to the Broncos, and the Bills trading into the Broncos' spot:

No Tremaine?

Exactly.

And the Bills trade up to #5 because they "desperately need a QB"
You're just trying to make us angry!

Happened to take a look at some of the replies to Tyrod's twitter posts over the weekend. I'm not sure that fanbase is going to allow him to play there next year. It seems to have become overly toxic and antagonistic towards him, and he's better off moving on.

Mock drafts prior to the start of free agency/league year are silly.

Well, shoot, maybe we should just delete the whole thread, then. ;^)

If you're not sure if my comment warrants a "/s", it probably does.

Mock drafts in general are silly because nobody can predict trades. But mock drafts before free agency are particularly silly. So much of the draft depends on where FA QBs land.

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Guys... it's really not that hard...

I feel like I am taking crazy pills, but I really do not get the love for Darnold. He has a long, loopy delivery that never translates well to the NFL level. The extra tenths of a second that it takes him to get rid of the ball are going to get him eaten alive at the next level.

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

That and the turnovers make me really scratch my head. He was really hot during his first year at USC, but he wasn't the same guy last year.
I'm even more baffled by Josh Allen being touted as a top 3 QB.
In terms of actual ability to play the position I think it's:
1. Rosen
2. Mayfield
3a. Jackson
3b. Darnold
4. Rudolph
5.
6. Josh Allen

I agree regarding Josh Allen. Evidently he has a crazy arm, but dude looks more like Jake Locker than Carson Wentz to me. Some of his workout clips show absolutely atrocious accuracy. I think we see 5 QBs off the board in the first round, though, and the only one I hope the Giants think about taking is Josh Rosen

I just don't see us taking a QB. Gettle is all about big bodies in the trenches. I get the feeling we're going to trade down to stockpile the trenches.
