Some thoughts after the Bonanza in Blacksburg

What. A. Game.

I didn't think I was going to make through alive.

• The young players are maturing. They still make mistakes, but they are playing hard and they are not giving up.
• Ryan Willis is pretty fast. Either that or the UVA DB didn't take his pursuit seriously.
• The wide receivers may be the most talented group of athletes on the team and Wiggins is an excellent position coach. There were a couple of things Turner and Grimsley said about how they were coached that have informed this view
  1. Turner: 'If the ball is in the air, it's yours'
  2. Grimsley: "Wiggins says never give up on a play because you never know what's going to happen." Grimsley jumped on People's fumble for a TD.
• Foster's view from above allowed him to see a few things he may not have seen on the sidelines. That seems to have resulted in adjustments that clamped down on UVA's offense. I had often wondered if it would be better for him to be up there, but I also saw that he was signaling calls to the linebackers.
• Rambo is a baller.
• I really want the bowl streak to continue, but if it doesn't I won't be as upset as if we lost to UVA and still made a bowl. I can't explain the relief I felt after beating UVA. That win, in a down year, could really help with in state recruiting. It just shows that there is one thing Hokies don't do. Ever
• It's clear Fuente and the coaches have not lost the team or the locker room. This was a united team that played a full game of football

I'm very much looking forward to the Marshall game.
