Same ol story. This (last night) is the consistency of Hokie football. Fans, everyone, rolls out the Maroon & Orange carpet for the team. Team enters in, then proceeds to overflow their trousers and defecate all over their own field, program, fans in front of national tv. Another failure. Another international embarrassment.
It was mentioned that in order to have a chance to win this game, the entire team would have to match, at least equalize the intensity of the fans. That was something they needed to do last year when facing of against Clemson. Once again, they failed & we see the expected, familiar results. I'm of the mentality that how I prepare, how effective I practice, will reflect & show in how I perform. Someone mentioned that in order to perform well, the team would have to go through more pain in their prep. Well, results speak for themselves.
At this point, the decisions by the coaching staff to kick a number of key & important players vital to this team & program's success have clearly not paid off in a positive manner for us. I would've rather they be kept on, and have us win games. Winning is what's most important in this business. Forget the top 10 team aspirations. Just do top 15-20 for fuck's sake.
I already lost complete confidence in the staff & team after ODU. I said it would take a win over ND to start not feeling so bad about ODU. Folks keep clamoring "we still got a chance for the Coastal, we're in great position" & "we feel pretty good about where we are" and so forth. Well, those folks can surely be understanding about those of us that are in a "prove it" & "believe it when we see it" frame of mind.
Beyond tired, annoyed & exhausted of the continued incompetence. I believe that the entire program (I exclude Gaines for this game) deserve any and all flack that is dished out for failures. CLARIFICATION: not saying to fire the entire staff & copy $ec & halFaSsU. Absolutely not. But failure garners vitriol. They want it to stop? Fine, CHANGE THE RESULTS. CHANGE THE NARRATIVE. CHANGE THE STORY. Change the story, then the narrative will be changed.
