Gambling Lines, Week 3

Below are the current (as of noon, 9/10/18) spreads for this weekends upcoming games. Any thoughts on the spreads? Too high? Too low?

A few that stuck out to me:

  • Ole Miss as a 21 point underdog to Bama. You know all sorts of trailer park piggy banks are being emptied on this one. Sure, it's Bama, but surely Ole Miss can keep it closer than that, right? Nope. I'd still take Bama.
  • FSU as 2.5 point favorites over Syracuse. As long as Dungey is healthy and Taggart is coaching FSU, this goes Syracuse every time. Hell, I'd even take Syracuse for the outright win. Until FSU proves me otherwise, they are not "bak"
  • Ohio as 6 pt dogs to LOLUVa. How bad do you have to be to be expected to lose to LOLUVa? I'm not touching this one way or the other, but will still watch the scoreline hoping for hoo tears.
  • UCF at -14.5 over UNCheat. The only way this isn't a blowout for UCF is if the hurricane cancels the game. I'd say weather could keep this one close, but UNCheat has history working against it in that case, too.

Please do not take my ramblings as legitimate gambling advice. You will lose your shirt and anything else you're foolish enough to bet based on my idiocy. TKP does not encourage gambling and even if it did, I am neither employed nor sanctioned by Orange and Maroon Media, LLC so who cares.

Kansas as 2.5 pt road favorites is laughable until you realize Rutgers is even more terrible. I was right last week about anOSU -35, and I'll ride with Kansas -2.5 this week too. Rutgers can't throw the ball effectively

I see WVU beating 3.5, Grier is pretty dang good

Surprised at Auburn -9.5, I would've thought LSU's drumming of Miami would carry a bit more weight

What if they are playing in torrential downpour in Raleigh? Remember when we played the hurricane game at UNCheat and ND played NCSU across town? Our game was a little wet, their's was a gorram slip and slide because NCSU's field wouldn't drain for nothing.

While very true I still just can't see WVU by 3.5, however I don't think I've ever seen Grier play in the rain so it may effect him more than thought

Any prop bet odds on whether or not games are cancelled by weather?

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

Take Marshall and the points at South Carolina (if the game doesn't get canceled)

Army -7 looks like a strong play. I know Hawaii is 3-0 but that game is kicking off at 6 AM their time.

In fairness Nick Rolovich WAS the OC when Hawaii did the exact same thing at a 0600 local kickoff win @Army way back in 2010!

The Hawaii QB is the real deal. Watch his highlights if you get a chance. I'm taking the Rainbow warriors on this one.

yeah I think Hawaii has this one by at least a couple scores. I just can't see army being able to compete with a high flying offense.

Checked again and FSU is up to being a 3 pt favorite. Syracuse for the outright win, thank you very much.

I never bet against Iowa State at home...and I was correct from last week with Oklahoma, it was a liiiittle aggressive, like half a point lol

And idk how Tennessee is this season, but I can definitely see UTEP (who I also have no clue how they are) going deep into this game. I say it's close until the start of the 4th. Vols pull away by 17.

Probably gonna tease some of the big dogs (trigger warning). Georgia, OU, and Bama.

Last week I gave the guarantee of FIU over ODU, which turned out right (even though not by the score I called). This week I'll give two: Tulsa over Arkansas State (line is Arkst -1, Tulsa wins by 3 touchdowns). Minnesota covers vs Miami OH (Minn -14, 3 touchdown win at least).

I had BC -5.5 in two different parlays. The line moved to BC-4 at game time so I was a little nervous. Then I thought they might actually let Wake make it close in the 2 minute drill. Phew. My bets live to disappoint another day.

Really liking this whole "bet 50 cents on a 5+ leg parlay" thing. Makes it fun to check up on games I would t otherwise watch without being overly paused when I lose the bet.

Temple, a 15 point dog, is beating the twerps by 21 in the fourth quarter. So, remind me why Tejas is a favorite over a ranked USCw.

Home field

Welp

Yeah, guessing the ranking for USCw was pitty votes. Sheesh.

No navy over under this week. Too bad

The best piece of gambling advice I've ever heard: the masses are asses...i.e. always be a contrarian

This seems like as good a thread as any, but did anyone watch Canelo vs. GGG? I forgot about it or I would have placed a bet, but that finish seemed a little suspect.

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

Phew. Those B1G West lines were...not good.
