First and foremost, I hope everyone in the path of this beast stays safe over the next few days. This sucker, while having weakened a bit wind-wise over the last 24 hours, is still going to pack one hell of a punch to the coastal regions, dumping in excess of a predicted 3 and a half feet of rain in some locations. Tropical winds are likely to be felt throughout the entirety of the Carolinas into surrounding states. We are all going to be impacted by this (unless you're fernley, off in China).
And what GameDay thread would be complete without something to watch? For those interested, there is a Live Cam on the top of Frying Pan Tower, which sits about 30 miles off the tip of Bald Head Island, where this storm has been expected to make landfall. The tower itself sits some 40 feet off the waterline, and provides a completely unique view of the events as they roll in.
Update: The Frying Pan Tower lost power at about 4:30am this morning, and as such, both of its webcams are currently down and replaying some of their 'greatest hits'. I'm going to go ahead and assume they'll be offline for the remainder of the hurricane, so apologies to Kevinaddicts.
With that said, there are some alternates.
First, if you still want to see footage from what appears to be a direct hit, its not a perfect stream, but Bald Head Island still has 2 working webcams, one on the mainland in Southport (top) and one on the Island at the ferry terminal (bottom)...
The Washington Post also has a current Live Stream going overlooking the USS North Carolina in Wilmington.
There is also this feed that has compiled 6 other feeds into one stream. Though, it does appear they are slowly going offline one by one...
Stay Safe everyone!
