Mook's charges heading toward dismissal

Glad to see this.

Jamon Antonio Reynolds, as he is known in court records, was charged with marijuana distribution in July after he and a friend were stopped in a vehicle on U.S. 460. A starting defensive back at Virginia Tech, Reynolds quickly was dismissed from the football team after his arrest.

On Thursday, Montgomery County General District Court Judge Jerry Mabe approved a reduction in Reynolds' charge from a felony to a misdemeanor and took the case under advisement for 12 months, with the expectation that it will be dismissed next year if the 21-year-old avoids further legal problems.

I'm glad everyone waited to see how it played out before passing judgement...

Keep calm, Gobble on

He wasn't found innocent. The judge agreed to dismiss charges in the next year as long as Mook continues to stay out of legal issues.

Glad you waited to read the article before finger-wagging...

This. So much this.

February..'96...the steak: ribeye, the whiskey:Lagavulin 16, the lady next to me: a bit**.....

More importantly, that also means he wasn't found guilty of anything

Let me reiterate since I wasn't explicit...

I'm not saying he's innocent or guilty just that people should wait to go to twitter, message boards etc. bashing anyone until everything plays out. Even now there are details we don't know... was the DA a dick and tried to charge him since he was in the car? Or did he pre-trial to avoid the time/expense rather than fight it?

I will always finger wag finger pointing before info comes out and if you want to feel validated for writing him off for being in a car with weed then fine but I won't apologize for it

Keep calm, Gobble on

He wasn't found guilty of it either. His point is that MANY people on here (and other social media platforms and message boards) who were quick judge him and say he should be kicked off the team based on the charge before any evidence came out or had his day in court. Nothing wrong with what Jolly said.

Bleeding burnt orange and chicago maroon

definitely read that title and thought it meant something entirely different, i was going to be so crest fallen that the nails were in the coffin for mook.

Not throwing shade here, but does this mean Fuente acted a bit prematurely?

Serious question.

Is it basketball season yet?

Regardless of whether he had just been suspended indefinitely as mandated by the Athletic Department, or dismissed as Fuente did, Mook would have never played another down at VT. Unfortunate situation but Fuente's actions really made no difference to how it played out.

Good stuff, best of luck young man

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Let's go Mook! Unbelievable that this kind of thing can ruin someone's life in 2019.

What? Breaking the law?

If he stays in good graces everything will be dropped so I wouldn't say his life is ruined. I will be extremely happy when he gets things back in order and will be a big fan when he gets a chance in the NFL but you have to be careful with the company you keep when you're on scholarship at a major program.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

From what I've heard, it's hard to say that he broke the law. You could certainly say that he was hanging out with the wrong folks, but it really sounds like more of a wrong place, wrong time sort of deal.

Sounds like the deal he was handed was "we're reducing the charge from a felony to a misdemeanor, and sitting on it for a year, and if you keep your nose clean until then it'll get dismissed before going to trial". A pretty good deal for a responsible kid who isn't going to get in any more trouble.

I think everyone agrees that he wasn't doing anything malicious, his lawbreaking activity was harmless, and said law is antiquated.

It just unfortunate that marijuana carries such a harsh penalty. Its even worse that such a small amount can be constitute intent to distribute.

That's good news for Mook. Hopefully, he can get through the year and come out on a good path.

It sucks that he missed his senior season, but I'm really glad to see that he's getting a second chance. Sometimes young people make bad decisions and have to learn lessons the hard way. I hope he takes full advantage of this opportunity.

The doll's trying to kill me and the toaster's been laughing at me.

I don't know if it was mentioned but his apartment he shared with his brother in Texas burned down too.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Jreynolds told us this would happen from the get go. This is not a shocker.

Good for him and best of luck to him. Always liked his play. Maybe the Skins will draft him and put him at safety to go along with Adonis and Stro.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

That sort of reduction indicates that the authorities realized he was sort of at the wrong place at the wrong time. Truly a situation where, yeah he could be found guilty, but no, he's not really the culpable actor. Fortunately for him the deal hes getting is a great one. Unfortunately, it derailed his football career at VT.

I wish him the best of luck. I feel like he'll be able to put this behind him.
