Buzzketball: Virginia Tech(16-3, 5-2) at Miami(9-10, 1-6) Jan 30th at 7PM on ESPN2 and VT/IMG Radio

Looks like Lt Peterson is still not posting. Here are my usual tables. Have to walk the dog; then I will add pics and comments unless someone gets to it first. VT is favored by 8.5 in this one.

ACC Stats. I won't add season stats. I think the early season cupcakes just skew the stats and there are enough ACC games now for the stats to be representative:

Player data: There is a lot more height on the roster; but they don't seem to play. There is a 7 footer; a 6'11" and 6"10 player who have no ACC minutes:

#0 Chris Lykes So. 5'7" 157 G The pics show him wearing #2; but Herenton wears #2 now.

#5 Zach Johnson R-Sr. 6'2" 192 G

#15 Ebuka Izundu Sr. 6'10" 232 C

#1 Dejan Vasiljevic Jr. 6'3" 184 G

#3 Anthony Lawrence II Sr. 6'7" 207 G

#21 Sam Waardenburg R-So. 6'10" 216 F

#13 Anthony Mack R-Fr. 6'6" 214 G

2 Willie Herenton So. 6;1" 178 G

Comments:

Their 1 ACC win was at home against Wake Forest. They lost at home against NC State(by 5), UNC(by 11), and FSU(by 12). They lost on the road to Louisville(by 17), FSU( by 6), and Syracuse(by 20).

The last game Izundu started and played 28 minutes; but Waardenburg played 24 minutes. So they will both be on the floor some of the time. As usual Blackshear needs to stay out of foul trouble and stay on the floor. If they are able to play two 6'10" guys against a VT lineup without Blackshear, we could have big problems. Waardenburg is also their best 3 pt shooter at 44%; however, he only has 9 attempts in 7 games. Overall they only shoot 34% from 3; so I think our biggest challenge will be to contain them in the paint.

The two bigs are subject to foul problems. Izundu is averaging over 3 fouls per game and Waardenburg averages 2 fouls in 22 minutes per game. They have been out rebounded by 7 rebounds per game.

They are not a great 3 pt team. shooting about 25% in their last two games; so they will probably light it up from 3 against us. Their top five scorers average 10+ points per game.

As Macgruber says in the first comment, this should be an easy win unless something unexpected occurs.
