OT: Nick Saban laments early transfers after QB Blake Barnett leaves

While I hate to put in a plug for the SEC's Public Affairs Office (aka ESPN), I have a real issue with Nick Saban's comments to the press regarding Blake Barnett leaving Bama. I also have a problem with the media supporting this opinion.

I know that this won't popular with many avid fans, but the game has changed from the day that Saban played. Today coaches leave at the drop of the hat (i.e., quit on their team) to serve their own best interests (how did that stint in Miami work out for ya Nick?). The rules are harshly stacked against the athletes, while schools, coaches and administrators make millions off of the talent of kids.

Yeah, I get the fact that they get a college scholarship. We all know that 70% or more wouldn't a have a shot at a scholarship with out sports. We also know that 69% or more would forego college if they could make to the pros without going through the hassle of college (the pro leagues have a nice collusion with the schools).

Just look at the poster child that David Pollack and Des Howard hold up as an example of "what's possible" if you stay: Cardale Jones. We all know Jones' infamous tweet: "we ain't come here to play school".

What's not being pointed out in this example is that Jones bailed on his team. He had a couple good games leading anOSU in W's in 3 games to win the NC. Next season, the Jones magic was gone. Is it a coincidence that Jones left at the end of the season because he was a back up, but the NFL still expressed some interest?

Why is it ok for him to leave, but Barnett is being cast as the bad guy, because he's going to try to move to a team where he'll have a shot at starting? There are as many NFL QB's from non-power schools as from power schools (probably more depending on how you wish to define "power school"). Why is this a bad thing? Barnett is doing what's best for him, in a system that's looking to simply use his talents to its advantage.
