Gameday forecast

What up Hokies as promised here is the gameday forecast. Unfortunately we dont quite model for the north east (due to satellite coverage...we focus on regions where we receive quick satellite data) but theres a few things I want to point out on our model. The model is run at 17z (aka 1 pm) and includes data over the next 3 hours in these plots (till 4)

The contours are wind speed and the colors are humidity as you can see in the north east you're looking at really calm really dry air as forecasted before. This continues well into the northeast. Nothing in the area in the way of precipitation so I'll save you guys the trouble of that plot

Finally upper level stuff, you're looking at 3 crucial altitudes here for forecasting 850, 750 and 500 millibars (each millibar is 100 pascals for those of you wondering)

The evident feature here is the trough over the midwest (this is around kickoff time). These high wind speeds might lead to some thunderstorms cropping up in the next few hours. If you take a look at the radar you can see this feature

Expect this to propagate east and bring some thunderstorms and rain along with it as the afternoon progresses, but it wont have any impact on tailgating or the game as it should head southeast. We have a large high pressure system and ridge feature overhead in the northeast which should make for some very favorable conditions

Enjoy the game folks!!!!! THE SEASON STARTS TODAY
