Bill Connelly and Bud Elliott preview the ACC (Podcast Ain't Played Nobody)

Long Podcast, linked here. VT talk starts at 1:09:50. Highlights include:

  • Duke and UNC will be bad
  • FSU's OL could be a four year rebuild - "being just 'bad' would be a huge step forward for this group"
  • Syracuse's S&P+ ranking might be a little inflated because Clemson, ND, and WVU were all having QB issues/injuries when they played Syracuse.
  • GT has a hell of a rebuild
  • Wake is interesting and has a good offense. Clawson needs to take the next step.
  • Pitt has a small rebuild
  • BC's schedule is less than ideal
  • VT has an easy schedule and a lot of returning production. Top 25-30 team on paper.
  • UVA is building something. They got pretty unlucky in multiple games last year, and it is statistically unlikely that that happens again.
  • Miami is (still) a QB away from being good.
  • Bud Elliott (unconfidently) picks VT to win the coastal, because of our favorable schedule, suggesting that 6-2 in conference is enough to win the coastal.
  • Bill Connelly (unconfidently) picks Miami to wins the coastal because they have UVA and VT at home, and he believes VT, UVA, and Miami to be the three best teams in the Coastal.
