Our defense is way better than UNC's too, especially lately. Pitt's defense is stout, but I'll take us any day of the week how we've been playing lately.

Yeah Howell has gotten a lot of praise this season and he's got an arm but his decision making has a long way to go he will bomb into awful looks and if there is pressure he has the tendency to just freeze and tack a sack.
Once he learns to get rid of the ball and come off a progression when its not there he could be a very good QB.

If he makes a practice squad those things have been fixed lol. He has all the tangible but there are dozens of college qbs that never develop that mental

How many teams had bye weeks or extra days off before playing us this year? It seems like almost everyone on our ACC schedule has had extra time to prepare for us.

According to my numbers, we have a 31% chance to win if UNC wins, and a 23% chance to win if Pitt wins. In terms of raw numbers of scenarios, of the 512 that will exist after this game, we would win 188 of them with a UNC win and 148 with a Pitt win.
Edit: furthermore, a Pitt loss removes them from Coastal contention.

It's the same as when a receiver sees a defender about to hit him and drops his head. He was driving for the ball and just had a unfortunate natural reaction when he realized he was going to accidentally hit the receiver.

On an unrelated note, I'm switching between the Pitt/UNC game and the Browns/Steelers game. Dammarious Randall on the Browns just got ejected for a helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless receiver and the Steelers receiver (didn't catch the name) had to be carried off the field and is bleeding out of his ears. Not good at all, hope that one turns out alright.

I just saw where Myles Garrett assaulted Mason Rudolph with his own helmet during that game on sports center. Looked like a street fight. Sounds like the rest of the game was like that too.

The entire Big 10 benefits greatly from PSU, Michigan, and another team that probably doesn't deserve it each starting the year in the top 15. So when they all beat up on one another they look a lot better than they are. Iowa still being in the top 20 with an offense that can basically do nothing is insane to me.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That and no other conferences are doing much, ACC doesn't have a clear 2nd best team. Pac 12 has only 2 teams. Big 12 has beaten up each other. A week ago no one in the Big 12 had a win against a winning team not in the big 12.

Yikes, Tua just took a big hit, had to be carted off the field.
Seems like a huge mistake by Saban to have a guy that was a game time decision still in the game at 35-7. Miss St had no shot to win short of knocking him out of the game
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I can't fault Saban for keeping him in the first half. No real difference between giving him 6 drives instead of 5. An incredibly rare, fluke injury unrelated to his ankle.
I am very sad as I greatly enjoy watching him play and now I just hope he makes a full recovery and gets paid.

Yikes, the reports are a posterior wall fracture. Looking this up on the internet, it looks like the 'ball' portion of his hip join broke through the 'socket' part and broke his hip. The info suggests that there are significant blood vessels and nerves in the area too. I thought I had also heard an announcer say that he might have had a broken nose too? I may have seen him with a bloody nose when he was on the cart.
Brutal brutal stuff for Tua. Sounds like the kind of injury that will take a long, long time to recover from.
Can anyone with a medical background shed some additional light here?
EDIT: Reports are suggesting that Tua will make a full recovery but there are comparisons between his injury and Bo Jackson's. Looks like people with unconfirmed expertise are thinking that the speed of identifying and treating the injury give him a better prognosis than Bo ended up with.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Bo's injury was more devastating than it should have been because what happened on field didnt look like Bo really injured himself so it went untreated.

I bet heavy on Minnesota to win. Thankfully I also bet heavy on VT, Bama, and Florida so i'll come out on top. Basically I'm saying I'm not mad at Minnesota, just disappointed.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
That was a bad bet, Minnesota was almost a guaranteed loss after using every ounce of energy they had to beat PSU. They will still end up 10-2 which is a great season.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
They were playing at Iowa, in November, at night, and all while Iowa wore their black unis. .... Minnesota was never going to win there. No one would. That place is is cursed.

Passed out on the couch last night right around halftime of the Oklahoma-Baylor game. Woke up around 12:30, searched the bottom line for the score, went to bed. Woke up around 8 this morning thinking I haaad to have read that score incorrectly. Turns out I didn't. Never sleep on Big12 games. Those offenses are just barrels of gasoline waiting for a match.

Pitt plays dirty as hell...I opened this thread just to get that out. And FUCK Pat Narduzzi.
NUCK Fat Parduzzi
Go Heels, pass the salt Pat
I feel dirty rooting for UNC, but it helps our guys and F Narduche
I have to root for UNC in this one. Fuck Pat Narduzzi. At least if you ran into Mack Brown you could get a Werthers off of him
That was definitely targeting a few minutes ago
At this point, I have no idea what targeting is. Clear helmet to helmet. He even lower his head before contact to lead with the crown.
And was like 15 minutes late on the hit
Add to that the player was already on the ground...my annual reminder that I hate Pitt so much.
Pitt's inside the 10 offense still as good as ever.
FTFY
That jacked up UNC dude is amped up lol
Are screens used a lot more in football now? Seems like a super popular play call with a lot of teams lately
Wow. That PI on UNC is shit. I dont know about the catch, but PI was BS
Acc refs..
That entire sequence of events was a train wreck for this officiating crew.
Yes, but they simultaneously screwed over Pat Narduzzi and Mack Brown.
ACC REFS =AMAZING
Hard to argue with that logic
How does the Pitt guy not get flagged for taunting after he didn't even make the sack there but bends over the QB and gives him crap
I know, I know, ACC refs but come on that is blatant
This is an absolute shit show from the guys in stripes.
Is UNC about to get worked?
Where did this Pitt passing attack come from?
Pitt happens.
UNC secondary is decimated with injuries.
I'm already stressed out about next week
Unless UNC kills Pickett tonight. Two late hits in one drive.
I'm not. As long as we play like we have been, no one left on the schedule is beating us.
Pitt looked better earlier. They may still win, but im not impressed with them in the second half
Our defense is way better than UNC's too, especially lately. Pitt's defense is stout, but I'll take us any day of the week how we've been playing lately.
Our OL is better too and I like to think Hooker doesn't get nearly as rattled as Howell does.
or chuck the ball into quadruple coverage.
Yeah Howell has gotten a lot of praise this season and he's got an arm but his decision making has a long way to go he will bomb into awful looks and if there is pressure he has the tendency to just freeze and tack a sack.
Once he learns to get rid of the ball and come off a progression when its not there he could be a very good QB.
let's hope that improvement comes in his first year in the NFL on a practice squad!
If he makes a practice squad those things have been fixed lol. He has all the tangible but there are dozens of college qbs that never develop that mental
sorry I left off the /s
And the receiver still almost caught it!!! That was the crazy part!
How many teams had bye weeks or extra days off before playing us this year? It seems like almost everyone on our ACC schedule has had extra time to prepare for us.
Miami, UNC, Duke, and UVA has Liberty before us.
And Pitt plays us next week so they have two extra days after playing tonight.
UVA has a bye week this week and Liberty next...sooo 2 bye weeks? Or are they the team that looks ahead and ends up losing to Liberty?
Nah, at least..I don't see that happening.
At Liberty, they are praying it happens.
I can't keep up with all the scenarios - does it help us for the coastal crown if UNC wins tonight?
According to my numbers, we have a 31% chance to win if UNC wins, and a 23% chance to win if Pitt wins. In terms of raw numbers of scenarios, of the 512 that will exist after this game, we would win 188 of them with a UNC win and 148 with a Pitt win.

Just seconds away from Pitt losing a DB for the first half against us.
No, he sits the rest of this half + second half of this game. He can start vs us.
🤔
That defender was making a play on the ball...
I've never seen a play on the ball when the DB lowers his head just before contact.
He was diving with his arms stretched out..
It's the same as when a receiver sees a defender about to hit him and drops his head. He was driving for the ball and just had a unfortunate natural reaction when he realized he was going to accidentally hit the receiver.
I hate Pitt. We're gonna beat the fuck outta them.
This game wants me to vomit and hate football:
I am so stoked for the Pitt game two Saturdays from now /s
In all seriousness, though, I hope it is "This One's For Bud, Part II".
All Bud needs for motivation is to play last years Pitt game to the team...
I have no idea what you are talking about. We didn't play Pitt last year.
[Sticks head in the sand]
I haven't been watching but Pat McAfee - homer for Pitt? That's surprising.
Pat McAfee went to WVU (a school that hates Pitt more than anyone) and got death threats after a loss to Pitt. What makes him a homer for Pitt?
On an unrelated note, I'm switching between the Pitt/UNC game and the Browns/Steelers game. Dammarious Randall on the Browns just got ejected for a helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless receiver and the Steelers receiver (didn't catch the name) had to be carried off the field and is bleeding out of his ears. Not good at all, hope that one turns out alright.
I just saw where Myles Garrett assaulted Mason Rudolph with his own helmet during that game on sports center. Looked like a street fight. Sounds like the rest of the game was like that too.
That shit was insane
Why does UNC have feet on their helmets? Did we leave those marks?
Must be re-using the helmets from after our 2017 matchup
It's their literal mascot.
Although technically, the actual tarheel was covered up by the ear hole.
So if a lump of tar on a foot is their mascot, how does that translate to a Ram?
Same way a Hokie transformed into a Turkey....
Hokiebird.
The turkey came first...
This game has been pretty entertaining, can't lie
I was feeling good about this but now not so much.
As long as we take care of business it doesn't matter who wins or loses.
Go Hokies.
Found the guy that didn't bet this game
Honestly, we do a lot of things that will mitigate that Pitt pass rush. We haven't made Hooker sit in the pocket for long developing plays too often.
this counts as an "other game," right?
See ya Garratt. 65 (at the end) should get some games too.
So did Trey get the first down?
Watching Penn State the past 2 weeks tells me we can absolutely beat this team next year if we play our game.
Yeah I don't think they are as good as people thought a few weeks ago. I was never convinced. Great teams don't have 17-10 games with Pitt.
The entire Big 10 benefits greatly from PSU, Michigan, and another team that probably doesn't deserve it each starting the year in the top 15. So when they all beat up on one another they look a lot better than they are. Iowa still being in the top 20 with an offense that can basically do nothing is insane to me.

The ACC has a clear 2nd best team now.
Cant not up vote that
Come on, we aren't that much better than Clemson
Yikes, Tua just took a big hit, had to be carted off the field.
Seems like a huge mistake by Saban to have a guy that was a game time decision still in the game at 35-7. Miss St had no shot to win short of knocking him out of the game
Tua is out for the season
Bye Bama
Game-time decision for an altogether unrelated injury.
Still, you hate to see it. I like Tua.
I can't fault Saban for keeping him in the first half. No real difference between giving him 6 drives instead of 5. An incredibly rare, fluke injury unrelated to his ankle.
I am very sad as I greatly enjoy watching him play and now I just hope he makes a full recovery and gets paid.

So is Mark Dantonio on the hot seat?
Yes, but mostly for other stuff.
Looking like Minnesota is going down this week. Iowa is definitely playing better ball so far.
I bet heavy on Minnesota to win. Thankfully I also bet heavy on VT, Bama, and Florida so i'll come out on top. Basically I'm saying I'm not mad at Minnesota, just disappointed.

1. Top 10 opponent
2. Night at Killick
3. God rest their souls
Go Iowa St. get UT out of the top 25 so we can get a spot
Matt Rhule has done a great job with the Baylor rebuild. Also, Charlie Brewer is fun to watch. Hoping they can beat Oklahoma tonight.
Michael Brewer's lil bro is having a hell of game thus far.
Lighting them up!
Baylor taking Oklahoma behind the woodshed.
There's still time.
Someone should have told Baylor that
CeeDee Lamb being ruled out basically right before kickoff ruined my fantasy lineup a bit.
Didn't Gameday do a giant Feature on him?
I'm not sure. My big son had a basketball game during that time.
Wonder if your small son was able to see it
Nah, my small son was in the stroller on the sidelines with my daughter while I was coaching my big son in his basketball game.
They did, and Chris Fowler said the Game Day crew was pretty upset about finding out so late.
LSU letting Ole Miss have some hope. Not gonna Slip up and lose it, but definitely not gonna cover at this rate.
LSU trounces Ole Miss by 21. I had LSU(-21.5). FML
That fumble might be the turning point of this game. OU needed some sorta spark and that might have lit the explosion.
Texas lost to a kicker names Assalley . . . . That is all
C'mon, Brewer
And he just threw a pick. Baylor CHOKED this game away.
Baylor scores zero points in the second half. What an absolute choke.
28-3 strikes again!
