QP is the real deal!

Games like this will keep the program's head above water during lean years, I think. The place was packed and apparently rocking.

We aren't in any national picture right now but Virginia Tech is definitely not just another college football program. Being respected is important and this is a huge part of that.

It seems to be less about winning and more about love.

Said on the way out that tonight was the perfect night for a big recruiting weekend. Best home atmosphere I've seen in a long time and the place was crazy throughout the overtimes.

It was awesome. The Jacksonville recruits crew somehow ended up at our tailgate after the game and sounded like they had a blast.

FAM! This feels like the perfect day for the first ever TKP comment after only being reminded of the dread of watching the 4 OT L in '15. I FEEL REDEMPTION!

That was absolutely nuts. The best atmosphere I've seen at a Tech game since the WVU game a couple years ago. Shoutout to all the fans who were there and all the fans who stayed till the end. The whole stadium was making the "block that kick" motion before we blocked their would-be game winning field goal. The whole place erupted when Ladler made his two huge tackles. The entire place nearly collapsed when QP scored the game winner. The place was shaking when Enter Sandman played after the game. Absolutely unreal.

I wasn't there...but I swear the Thursday night game when Marshall had leftwich in 2003 (?) Was effing loud....like....LOUD. not sure I've ever watched a game at Lane that loud...whilst watching I noted how loud it was...and I was in Lane when Vick beat Miami in 99. That shit was insane....was tonight crazier? I was talking shit to all the Ohio state fans I know at my local that the horseshoe is a library compared to lane...they didnt believe me but F them...still think a full Lane is hard to beat.

Was at horseshoe in 2014; was not loud (although most OSU fans who went said they really never got loud in that game, either).

I don't doubt that 105k fans anywhere can make some serious noise, but most stadiums pick up on a 4th down stop with the game on the line.

When your fans are screaming their lungs out on first down in the 3rd quarter, you have a loud stadium.

2002. Yeah, we were coming off a beatdown of ranked and defending SEC champs LSU, and Marshall was ranked and one of the top non-AQs at the time. Lane had to be rocking for that one, especially on a Thursday night. I was born in 1997 and was very young at the time, so I didn't really get to experience 1999-2003, but apparently that's when Lane really became known as a tough place to play.

Apparently none of your OSU fans were at the horseshoe when we beat them. Our 10kish fans were louder than their 90kish fans pretty much the whole game. Also, my favorite Tech game in person I think.

I was at a Tennessee - Miami game where the 5k at most Miami fans were louder than the 101k Tennessee fans.

Lots of those big stadiums suck at making noise.

Having been at the Shoe for that game also , I would whole-heartedly agree. (Best story for the trip-my frined and I were sitting in the upper end zone near the giant flagpole. Navy had given the Buckeyes a scare in week 1, and after we stopped OSU early on in the first, my friend yelled "That's right boys-we ain't Navy!". Not a rude
or hating comment, no cursing-just an observation. There was a 60 year old usher nearby who came up and said "HEY! We'll have no yelling like that here. In about 5 minutes there's gonna be a six foot six black guy here too and if you yell another rude comment, he'll toss you out of here!"...all for saying "we aren't Navy!
(but mad props to their marching band who for EVERY game play the opposing team's fight son both before and after the game! and put on an AMAZING halftime show)

And ditto for the 2016 Notre Dame Game at South Bend.

...props to their marching band who for EVERY game play the opposing team's fight son both before and after the game!

IIRC, VT did that back in the Big East days if the opponent's band didn't travel. Wouldn't surprise me if we do that in the ACC.

If you're not sure if my comment warrants a "/s", it probably does.

I swear the dreaded Matt Ryan BC game was the loudest I ever experienced there. The stadium got louder every time the rain picked up. I distinctly remember my ears noping out and muffling all the sound around me when looked up into the lights as another downpour started. The end of that game sucked, but the sloggy mess of an experience was amazing.

I still think the loudest I've ever heard the stadium was Miami in 2005. Even though it didn't last long, it was absolutely deafening at the beginning of the game. Of course, I didn't attend the 2003 Miami game which is apparently far and away the loudest game ever in Lane Stadium.

I remember walking past the Washington street from my apartment to do some work for a deadline on campus, during the 2003 Miami game. Yes, I know, what a dork. The cheering was so loud it sounded like the ocean in a storm.

I can't imagine it could have been any louder, but one has to wonder what it would have been like had we not lost to WVU in the previous game. We would have been ranked #3 playing against #2. That easily would have been the biggest game to ever be played in Lane Stadium.

I couldn't get tickets to the game in 03 so I sat in my West AJ dorm on the side that faces Lane with the window open watching the game on TV. The stadium was so loud it did sound like an ocean in a storm. I commented to my roommate that when big plays happened, it sounded like some portal to hell was opening up. The way the sound waves were traveling made for some unique roars.

what I like to point out to opposing fans isn't how loud we are, rather how quiet...let me explain.

Right before the first TD throw by HH to Tre, it was amazing how silent the stadium was presnap. This IMO is what makes Lane and Hokie Nation special, we know when to get quiet too. At many away games I always laugh at their fans when they are making noise/yelling while their own offense is on the field.

"Take care of the little things and the big things will come."

That game was a blast!

I could hear Lane stadium all the way from Portugal! I love everybody!

FAM!

I got to enjoy this game while watching with my 76 year old mother. She loves VT and does her best to keep up with the action on the field. Needless to say overtime was a bit confusing to her, but she was literally on the edge of her seat until the end.

Much love to you all, FAM.

Shit my 40 year old ass was confused at the end when all the crazy OT rules started kicking in

I remembered that there were new rules after that 7OT Texas A&M game last year and mentioned it to everyone around me , but hadn't remembered what they were. We are in the record books now as the most OT in an ACC game and will be mentioned at least the next few times anyone anywhere goes to 6OTs again.

PS As in the UVA game last year, after UNC scored the go ahead TD in 4th quarter, I turned to the folks around me and said "This is when legends are made" and it worked again!

I was listening on the radio and when enter sandman started playing and the crowd was singing along i was like...holy crap...you will NOT get anything like this a Penn State, Michigan, ohio state...etc...i think they sing that west virgnia song at WVU...but enter sandman is VT...

i think they sing that west virgnia song at WVU

You mean that geographically challenged song about Virginia?

WVU fans are too dumb to realize that song's not about WV...

"but it says West Virginia in the song....."

To be fair, Tennessee's "Rocky Top" is pretty impressive, even if their football team sucks big fat donkey dicks.

Nah. Everyone thinks Enter Sandman is an awesome song. Unless you are a ut fan rocky top sucks ass.

Technically, my downvote was out of line. But you're praising Rocky Top, and that I cannot abide.

I own and stand firm on said downvote.

If you play it, they will win.

Watching Wisconsin on TV earlier this year, their fans DO rock singing along with multiple songs.
