Everyone please pray for the health of Urban Meyer as he considers offers from FSU, USC, and the Dallas Cowboys at ~$10 million/year.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

There is zero chance that Urban is going to FSU. Taggart's buyout is $17 million and will be over $20 million total for him and his entire staff. They would have to pay Urban north of $10 million a year. One of the reasons Jimbo left was the FSU athletic department was too cheap or unable to spend additional money than what they were already spending. And now they are suddenly going to come up with tens of millions of dollars? Nope, not believing it for a minute.

Right. We make fun of F$U all the time but I don't think they can shake out the couches and find 30-35 million. After the 20 mil buyout, the most that they can afford for the next coach would be someone like Cornelson.....oh wait a minute.

This article explains how this could be a very real thing.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Sure...if you call "[unnamed] sources say Florida State is preparing to spend what it takes to return to college football's first class" as evidence it could be a real thing.

I'm talking about the buyout. Regardless, FootballScoop is very well versed. They aren't message board gossip.

(Section on legal loophole removed)

looks like we missed their breakdown. Do you remember the gist of it?

Ah damn!! I read it yesterday so don't remember it exactly. Basically said since they had switched their AD to a private entity they may be able to circumvent the buyout somehow. I can't remember how.

Hey thanks! I love the mental gymnastics of avoiding contract requirements. It's like an escape room with a bailiff. I don't have enough legs to vote yet, but sudo leg for the reply!

FSU has pissed me off so much over the last few years. So much talent just absolutely wasted down there. Urban would make FSU piss me off 100X more because he would undoubtedly not waste that talent and turn them into the perennial power that they once were. All that to say...yeah, he ain't going to FSU.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

Christ, $17M buyout for Taggart? Seems a little excessive for someone who had a losing record as a head coach prior to taking the job....

Warning- Filter lost.

STICK IT IN HAS RETURNED!!!

He's gonna have a losing record after losing the job, too.

I was walking out of Doak with my good friend, an FSU booster who told me right then- something is not right with the team, Taggart needs to be fired. LOL, yes after 1 game. The expectations down there are a little different

... you were walking out of Doak?

β€œTHE CUP IS GOING NOWHERE MIKEY!!! THEY DID IT SOMEHOW!!”

From the context, he went to that game where we wiped the floor with them last season.

Yea, I just saw Doak and thought "Man, that's a funny way to spell Lane".

β€œTHE CUP IS GOING NOWHERE MIKEY!!! THEY DID IT SOMEHOW!!”

Cover 3 podcast was discussing that Taggart may not make it through the season and if they lose to BC this week won't make it to next week.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Rutgers new coach is Nunzio Campanile...this guy?

Nope, this guy...

So when Urban doesn't go to FSU, who do they reach out for?

Mario Cristobal?

Bud Foster

I agree with Tyree.

I'm going to miss being able to drag Florida for having not played an OOC P5 road game since 1990.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

They haven't scheduled it yet...

... and when they do, my money's on Rutgers.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Anyone else notice the top reply is from Clemson's AD?

What a world we live in, where athletics directors discuss football scheduling on Twitter.

Would love to see tech play the gators. This would be a bucket list trip to see tech play uf.

Added Mark Dantonio from Michigan State. I haven't seen any rumors, just unruly fans, but...
- 3 straight blowouts to Ohio State, Penn State, & Wisconsin (who isn't doing so hot either)
- Their 2020 recruiting class is currently ranked 11 out of 14 in the Big Ten. They're beating Rutgers, Illinois, and Indiana
- 2016 was a bad year (3-9), 2017 wasn't bad at 10-3, 2018 was 7-6, and so far they're 4-4.
- It's the Big Ten...

Fwiw - good sources on TOS say that in principle we already have our new DC lined up.

Care to expound on that...?

I don't have much more than that. Sorry.

Fair enough. What's TOS though? The other site???

terms of service

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Dantonio safe for another year. After this year he'll have to get new coordinators though. Gotta shake up the staff

This has to be the fastest firing besides conduct in recent times right?

I would think they go after the Memphis Coach right?

Not sure where they go from here. Lots of talent there and potential to have money, but what are they looking for, experienced P5 coach? Offensive minded FBS coach? Top tier coordinator?

but what are they looking for

Nick Saban or Dabo

Damnit, you beat my edit by about 45 seconds. That's a helluva buyout for FSU to swallow.

They raised $20M in a private fundraiser that "wasn't for buying out Willie Taggart" even though his buyout is 85% of his remaining contract (~$18M) plus the $3M to Oregon and $1.3M to USF through Oregon. So they're "not paying" right around $20M... That's a lot of cheddar...

Warning- Filter lost.

"Look at this... This is just spectacular.... These people are losing their minds"

STICK IT IN HAS RETURNED!!!

That was fucking swift

Almost 18 million in the buyout. I hope Willie is going to be OK.

Plus over 5 million for a season and half of work close to 7 million honestly plus they owed Oregon for his buyout.

New VT OC candidate?

Lethally simple.

We put the K in Kwality

edit: He's probably more likely to be the Redskins new coach.

Should be able to get him for a fair price.

I'd take Art Briles son as the OC

Umm lets not sell our soul please

Will be interesting to see which direction they go. Seems like a lot of their fan base is clamoring for Bob Stoops. Mike Norvell makes sense, as does Dave Clawson and Dino Babers. I could also see FSU being the kind of job that Venables might consider.

Why would you do that? There are maybe 5 coaches worth that. And then I'm not so sure.

The important part is that they changed their mind, thereby flushing the money down the toilet, and keeping their program in turmoil.

Also, lets the next coach know that they'll be under a microscope in the near and foreseeable future, as a bonus.

Right? I get serious schadenfreude watching a blue blood like FSU piss their status away with idiotic decisions like this.

Clay Helton at USC could be added to this list of potential firings

Syracuse fired their DC. ... Understandably

They had a DC?

Technically

Still gave up fewer PPG than ODU's DC.

He's actually a well respected DC, who helped them get to 10 wins last year. Clash of ideas and culture lost the locker room a bit this year.

Still, this always gets me. Do your job poor enough to get fired, and essentially never have to work again if you don't want to, and are smart with your money.

Takes a certain amount of rubbing shoulders, luck, and hard work to get to that position though.

But yeah, I'd love to get canned and be set for the rest of my life. Lol

He can look for work and setup tons of interviews but it's easy to sabatoge interviews. No one wants to hire some one that hasn't bathed in three days and has cheetos dust on their fingers. Put him in some bike shorts and an arkansas shirt because "they were free and they still fit". Simple.

Chad Morris just got a raise and an extension at Arkansas.

I was had by a spoof site.

This is a joke, right?

Are they so afraid of FSU poaching their, what, 4-17 coach?

EDIT: this is how fake news spreads. Take a breath before you click "share," grandpa. :-P

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

Which obviously means Stoops and FSU are ironing out the details of the contract.

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

Well since he came out and said it isn't him it must be him so there you go. /s

VTMidge

They better pan out after this year. Lol

That'll make him a top 15 coach in terms of pay.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

I bet it's a gradual ramp up to that point by 2026.

Who are the hottest G5 names who will end up with P5 jobs this year? Any which jobs fit them best?

Guesses?

Fickell -- Michigan State maybe?
Norvell -- Arizona? FSU?
Harsin -- USC? Tennessee?

ya can't make this stuff up

He might make the playoffs if he could stop losing to teams he's supposed to beat. That's going to be a problem no matter what conference they're in.

Chad Morris's seat is on fire now after getting blown out by western Kentucky at home. Rumor mill says he'll be out tomorrow. WKU's QB, Ty Storrey, who transferred from Arkansas went for 22/32 with 3 TDs.

I'd be pretty happy with him as my OC if we could pull that off.

Damn, they just gave him an extension and raise last week.

Edit - lol nvm that was a fake news article.

No longer on fire...Chad's out...

Sounds like a package deal.

G5 programs are going to be falling over themselves to get Morris as head whistle to get his kid.
