WBB vs Miami

The Ladies play Miami today at 2PM in Cassell Coliseum. The game is on ACCNx. MIami is 12-9 overall and 4-6 in the ACC. Out of conference they have losses to #7 Oregon, #19 DePaul, and #14 Indiana. In conference they have lost to #8 FSU(away) and #14 FSU(home), #7 Louisville(home) and at Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Notre Dame. Their conference wins are Wake Forest, Syracuse, Clemson And Georgia Tech(OT); all at home. Looks like they don't travel well.

The teams should match up well heightwise, since Mompremier does not seem to be playing. Junior Guard, 5'4" Mykea Gray is their leading scorer shooting 37% overall and 36% from three. Kelsey Marshall is the other threat from three shooting 33%.

Miami is not a strong offensive team, only averaging 59 points per game in ACC play; but three of their losses were to very good teams. The team overall only shoots 36% and only 26% from three. They have been out rebounded by 6 rebounds per game and average 12 assists and 16 turnovers per game. Only Gray and Marshall average double digit scoring. They have allowed 44% overall shooting and 33% from three.

On paper this looks like a win for the Hokies, unless Mompremier comes back. She could be a game-changer if healthy. Since Miami does not really have a player that can challenge Kitley without Mompremier, I would really like to see her work on her post game. She needs to turn and shoot from the foul line frequently to draw the defense out from under the basket. If she can hit that shot consistently, the whole game opens up for the Hokies. The guards can drive, Shepard and Mabrey will get more open looks from three and Baptiste and Rivers should get a lot of layups as the defense collapses around Kitley.
