OT: Altered Carbon Season 2

Its been a couple years, but Altered Carbon is returning. And its returning sooner than you think.

Series will be available for streaming a week from today, on Thursday, February 27th, 2020.

If you haven't seen the first series, I highly recommend. Has a very Blade Runner feel to it, and should be an excellent watch in 4K.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a show I so thoroughly didn't understand as much as this.

The OA has entered the chat

"It's always great to beat UVA, that makes us all smarter and better looking for a couple days".

Seriously. I loved The OA, and to this day have no freaking clue what was going on by the end of season 2. It's a shame it did't get renewed.

Not sure how I feel about the new cast.

One of the best series I've had the chance to watch. Anyone with a hint of sci-fi coursing through their veins needs to give season 1 their attention.

I recommend reading the book and then watching the series. First of all, the book was excellent and a really fun read. Second, there's a lot of detail they glossed over in the series regarding the technology and plot. Even though the plot diverges quite a bit in the series, you'll be able to take in the spectacle a lot more because of all the world-building they do in the book.

Fucking amazing show! 80's style violence and sex with modern filming techniques and a crazy storyline. Cant wait for season 2!

one episode in too season two and I am digging it. Starts off with a good mystery like the first season did.

Is it a continuation of the season 1, or new characters? Trying to decide if I need to rewatch season 1 or not.

Main character is the same but new sleeve (Falcon) and the AI Hotel dude are all that have shown up so far

I am glad Poe is back. I think that he is my favorite character in season 1.

Damn season 2 way better than season 1 and awesome series of cliffhangers at the end!

I don't even know how to disagree with you more. I thought the overall plot ideas were really good but that's pretty much it.

  • The acting was wooden at best (besides Poe) - Dig and the Bounty Hunter were particularly bad.
  • The atmosphere went from cyberpunk moody, dark, and dingy to this forest planet that just felt small.
  • I like Anthony Mackie but it felt like he didn't even watch the first season. He didn't match the personality of the Kovacs' x2 in the first season at all.

Overall it felt like they went from antihero neo-noir thriller to action-adventure hero movie.

Unfortunately, I agree. Maybe because the first season was so good it dorked up my expectations, but I'm just not into this season like the first one. I'm only a few episodes in so maybe my opinion will change.

Particularly this. It's possible that Kovac's character has simply changed between the passage of time in the story. But in a show where YOU KNOW that you're going to change the actor you have to have some sort of defining character trait that the audience can point to and recognize that it's the same character. Doing otherwise just feels like a glaring mistake.

To each his own, I felt season one was too disjointed with so many details and storylines so kind of hard to follow and I have not read any of the books yets so I did not have the background. Still think both season are great I just liked 2 better.
