Hatin' on David Delorean

I was out on a boat today thinking, I'll bet David Dorean passes on the wrong side.

We need to roll with Dave Delorean. All he wants to do is go back in time with a NC State football.

Dave Doeren legitimately thinks that the NWO Wolfpac was better than the O.G. NWO, for obvious reasons. 'Too Sweet' hand gestures notwithstanding.

Dave Delorean thinks VT's Enter Sandman entrance is lame and thinks if NC State ran on the field to the nWo Wolfpac theme it would be Too Sweet.

if NC State ran on the field to the nWo Wolfpac theme it would be Too Sweet

.....It really would be pretty sweet.

They've played the theme at home basketball and football games in the past. Haven't run onto the field with it though

There is this gem of a wrestling-style promo video made by an anonymous NC State fan several years ago hating on Tennessee/someone named Big Vol Daddy. This must happen more often.

DD is still trying to grow his wolpack to four.

Whatever. It was one bad year.

Seasonal Brew means High ABV for football season and standard the rest of the year.

Dave Delorean thinks that 2020 was one of his best years yet and hates to see it coming to an end.

Dave listens to the crowd when they boo a field goal attempt and decides instead to go for it on 4th... Then gets stopped. No seriously he did.

I can't tell the difference between having a conversation with David Doeren and a cardboard cutout of David Doeren.

Dave Delorean thinks that wolfpack is singular. He tells his guys, "Go be the best bunch of wolfpacks you can be out on the field today. Everybody bring it in. GOOOOOO WOLFPACKS!!!"

Dave DeLorean hates NC2VT.

He also tells recruits about the "french benefits" of playing at NCSU.

Hmmm. French benefits don't sound too bad. He also thinks "would've" is "would of".

Dave introduces himself to recruits as Double D, because "thats where the action is at." He then describes his football philosophy as taking them my the hand, or even by the mouth if more than a handful. Perky and attentive is an important attribute to State Football! A little bounce is never a bad thing. But you have to provide support. At the end of the day you're gonna unleash them to the other team in hopes of seizing the moment and coming out on top.

Double D doesn't understand why all recruits giggle at him.

Dave Delorean thinks Game of Thrones was overrated

Based on the last season he's right.

my knowledge of GOT is entirely secondhand -- gifs on the internet, hearing chatter at work, seeing comments in the discussion thread here in the "recent comments" tab, etc.

I am 800% committed to the belief that GOT was incredibly overrated

I thought it was great, but I'm no Dave Delorean.

I think this is a semi-joking comment, however, there are an incredible amount of posts on here that more or less say "I have no idea what I'm talking about and have no information, but here's my opinion anyway..." with complete sincerity.

i'm serious though! my understanding is that the show has so many loose ends and pump fakes that it basically unintentionally memed itself and that the showrunners just couldn't be bothered to land it cohesively once they ran out of source material and got distracted by star wars money

my verdict: overrated content, ending undid all the goodwill it had built up, and im glad i never invested any time or real mental capacity into it -- just enough not to get left behind the zeitgeist

I like how we're arguing opinions as if there's only one correct one and thus the entire world must agree with it. That's the beauty about opinions, they aren't based on anything other than personal preference, therefore, to the person with the opinion, they can't be wrong.

Someone saying something is overrated doesn't make something overrated, it implies they didn't like it, which is fine, cuz in the grand scheme of things, why do we care so much about what people like and don't like?

In conclusion, my opinion of this sub-thread is that it's dumb.

Something being overrated is a shaky concept by itself as it is subjective. Your perception based on third hand evidence gives you an idea what the final verdict of internet was, but your opinion holds no value in relation to the art or even interpretation of the art.

If you say a food that you have never eaten is overrated, that statement is worthless in evaluating the food and only serves to evaluate the opinions of others.

But isn't "overrated" a statement about other people's opinions anyway? So you can make a claim that the food is overrated based on solely the opinions of others and some reference opinion (like an expert or food critic). If the critic doesn't like the food, but the public does, you could correctly argue it is overrated without ever trying it.

Get Angry, Bud!

If you have no first hand knowledge to anchor your own opinion you can't evaluate the opinions of others relative to your own.

In your example, you are not evaluating how good the food is relative to general consensus, you are just saying that you hold the opinions of some above those of others. The opinions are what you are judging, not the product.

If you have no first hand knowledge to anchor your own opinion you can't evaluate the opinions of others relative to your own

I don't think I need to watch to show to draw the conclusion that other people's opinions don't jive with reality

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

Of course you can, in my opinion that conclusion has no value.

not to get all metaphysical, but isn't the natural conclusion of this that nobody can ever really know anything? I think GOT was overrated and you think that conclusion is overrated because i never watched it.

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

I don't find your opinion overrated, I find it baseless and therefore, not worthy of consideration at all.

Well I think you're underrating my opinion and also think that your opinion of my opinion is overrated

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

In retrospect, your opinion ain't played nobody anyway

I'm pretty sure you'd have a tough time convincing anybody that getting kicked in the balls being overrated is a shaky concept and subjective.

I thought the first few seasons were bloody great.

But by the end it was obvious that they had nowhere to go with it. The last episode was ridiculous. Too much build up for the characters to suddenly act out of character.

They tried to milk it for too many seasons, and last couple of seasons became unworkable. Until that, it was reasonably entertaining.

Your literally grading the entire series by its last season. The show was really good until the last season.... and the nudity was a bonus....

If a movie has a crappy ending, aren't you allowed to say the ending ruined the movie?

If you are looking at investing days of your time in a show and everyone is pissed it ends poorly, are you not allowed to make the judgement call that it isn't worth it? I mean, at best You bail after the good seasons and you're left with an unfinished show and you don't even get to wonder how it could have ended.

Eh, season 5 it goes down hill. If you watch the whole thing straight through (over a couple weeks) it's really evident that season 5 didn't have a book behind it.

Also the ending is shown to you a mile away. It wasnt as noticeable with all the story lines and trying to keep track of everything, but going back and seeing the hints, its clear.

I didn't read the books but season 7 was really good also with the rise of Arya. It may not have followed a book but I don't remember any poor reviews.

My thoughts as well I thought up to 5 it was top class and 5,6, and 7 was good then 8 was obvious as hell where they were going which made it bleh for me. D&D deserve all the shit theyve gotten for how they butchered it. I still love logging into r/freefolk and seeing all the memes trashing them.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

I didn't notice it the first time around, it was only watching it all back to back after season 8 that everything started to drag around season 5 for me.

GOT was awesome thru Battle of the Bastards; 7 had some moments IMO, 8 had The Long Night and not much else.

IMO, from what I've read on the interwebs, people hated it bc of Danys downfall and her going HAM on King's Landing; which if they'd paid attention, had been happening since season 7. Her downfall was needed though.

But its still the greatest show of all time.

The episode before the long night "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is one of the best in the entire show. What can I say, I've loved GOT since season 1, read all the books and Fire and Blood, and Westeros will always hold a special place in my heart. Didn't like the ending? Cool man. I thought it made a ton of sense. I also knew as the fandom grew it was becoming increasingly toxic. What're ya gonna do? People would rather spend their time actively hating things these days.

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

I would totally agree, I still enjoyed it and the ending was something I felt was coming but the way they executed it felt wrong kind of. Like they foreshadowed alot but still it felt hurried atleast to me. The show would have benefited from having 8 be about handling the WW then one more season on them going south to deal with the Lannisters. That would have opened more time to show her going more evil then one episode her an john are playing naked twister and saving the world the next shes burning it all down.

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

ChevyHokie The Wire and Breaking Bad are in this conversation IMO

It was happening in season 1. The way she talked with Jorah, the foreshadowing was there.

It got amped up once Tyrion became her hand.

I thought seasons 6 & 7 were fine. And I was fine with the ending as well, just hated the execution. My biggest gripe is the WW story line. GRRM didn't have single character who was just evil; every character (even antagonists) had a detailed back story that influenced their behavior - Cersei was evil, but she loved her kids, Ramsey was a bastard child who always wanted to be his father's heir, etc etc. The white walkers had no story line that made their behavior sensible. That was the biggest gap IMO.

Twitter me

Lol, Cersei's character explanation or whatever you want to call it always cracked me up: "She's evil, BUT... she loves her kids". Congrats on achieving the bear minimum haha

It went down when D&D ran out of GRRM material to pull from. Then Disney hired them for Star Wars. Then fired them (and that's saying a lot based on the last 3 SW movies).
