BB vs Cornell Dec 8 at 9 PM

The Hokies host Cornell tonight at 9 PM. The game is on ACC Network. Hokies are favored by 17.5, with an O/U of 148. Cornell is 8-1 with their only loss at Penn State by 11. In the only common opponent, we beat St. Francis 85-55, Cornell won 93-80. They do have 2 road wins at Lafayette by 5 and at Canisius by 14.

Cornell does not have the dominant big man that has been giving Aluma problems; their big man is Dickson at 6'9. Even against their weaker schedule, he is only averaging 6.8 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Ten players are averaging over 10 minutes per game. So the Hokies may again have a stamina problem in the second half when their legs start to show fatigue and Cornell is fresher.

This is supposed to be another easy game; but Cornell is a high-scoring team. The Hokies are going to have to play defense. Cornell is very good at not turning the ball over only averaging 13 TO's per game. If the Hokies are careless with the ball in this game, they may find themselves in a more competitive game than this should be. Cornell is shooting nearly 40% from three and over 50% overall; and have held their opponents to 30% from three and 38% overall. Aluma and Mutts should get their points in this one; but the outside shooters are going to have to play better than they have in the losses.
