First time in program history there have been 2 Hokies drafted to WNBA.
UPDATED: to account for 15 ACC basketball teams, not 14
The overall was wrong, I did account for ND, I am just in football mode where we have 14 teams
Taking a look at how the power 6 (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, and Pac 12) perform in the NCAA tournament.
I chose to look at the last 7 tournaments because 1) it's a lot of work to compile, and 2) 2016 was 2 full seasons after the last major change in the conferences, so that's 2 recruiting cycles to compete within your own conference.
For the number of appearances, I stopped at the final four because it's a huge deal to even get to the final four.
Excited for next season and how they do. Love Kitley's answer about what more she needs to do in the post.
We all know that our ladies had a season we will remember forever. And I have a feeling next year might be even better.
But this is more about the emergence of the women's game in general.

The national championship game between LSU and Iowa absolutely crushed not just the usual ratings for a WCBB game, but a significant number of other sporting events (all of Amazons Thursday night NFL games, every Stanley Cup game for decades, most NY6 bowls that's are not the playoffs, NBA Final games...the list goes on)

Enormous loss for Coach Mike Young's coaching staff.
Need to put the full press on to keep Rodney Rice in the fold.
Apparently players in the tournament only have 48 hours after their last game to declare for the WNBA Draft so we should see a decision sometime tomorrow on whether Liz will stay or go.
"Players whose college teams were still active through March 26 will have 48 hours following the conclusion of their final game to renounce their remaining NCAA eligibility and declare themselves available for the 2023 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm."
Really sad to see. And I'm not talking about the players or coaches. Yes the lead starts slipping but it's so sad to see comments flooding in saying "chokies" "of course they'd blow it" "Brooks is making horrible decisions." These girls have left it all out there. They aren't giving up. Not when they are getting tackled to the floor or hit in the face. They aren't barking at the refs for the horrible calls they made and getting technicals. We said we were disrespected by no one paying attention to us and here we are, in a competitive game, and they aren't pouting, they aren't complaining. They are the same calm, composed team they have been in all the adversity they have played.
The Ladies play LSU tonight in their first final four appearance ever. LSU was the 3 seed in the Greenville 2 region. VT was the 1 seed in Seattle 3 region. In the last ranking LSU was #9, the Hokies #4. LSU is favored by 2 points with the over/under at 133.5. The game will be on ESPN at 7 PM; also on ESPN2 with Sue Bird and Dianna Taurasi providing commentary. Both channels start the evening with a pregame show at 6PM. The game is at American Airlines Center in Dallas, capacity 19,200. The cheapest tickets are $212; close to the court are over $3000. Plenty of seats still available in all price ranges.
Some people here might be looking for a Hokie watch party for the Final Four.
I will be going to the Chicago Hokies watch party at Floyd's pub in Bucktown. If you know any other Chicago Hokies let them know about it!
