1/2 Breaking: ESPN will announce today the @B1GMBBall-@accmbb Challenge will end this week after 23 years and the @Big12Conference-@SEC Challenge will conclude in January after a 10-year run.
The Ladies host Longwood at Cassell today at 2 PM. This is an ACCNx game. Longwood is 1-4 with their lone win a 1 point squeaker over Ohio U. They got blown out by Louisville 100-37 in their most recent outing.
Longwood is a mature team. They start a senior, redshirt junior and 3 juniors.

The Men's Team
The Men's Team is coming off a runner-up appearance in the Shriner's Children's Charleston Classic where they went 2-1 with wins over ODU and Penn State but came up just short against the Charleston Referees. Overall not bad when you consider it was 5 on 8 (10 if you count the announcers).
So the Hokies stand 5-1 on the season and Mike Young has tied Red Laird for 8th best four season start to a career.
This week there will be quite a few great games to watch. Looking ahead at the Hokies schedule of Minnesota, UNC, Dayton and Oklahoma State, will include their games below. Keep in mind there are quite a few games TBD based on Feast Week Tournament results.
For those worried about the loss to College of Charleston negatively impacting the Hokies, in the short term CoC actually received more AP Top 25 votes this week than Tech. If they continue to do well it will end up a Quad 1 Loss on "Neutral court" which is not a big negative.
Currently #3 Kansas has their hands full with the 4-0 Wolfpack on ESPN.
The Ladies play Missouri in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau at 1:30 Nov 23. The game will be broadcast by subscription service FloHoops. You can listen on the VT Sports network.
Missouri is 6-0 with their most recent win over Wake Forest 69-47 in their first game in Nassau. Their other victories:

The Men's Team
I know I've usually been doing these things in 4 game batches, but the way the men's and women's schedules are set up, it just doesn't work out, so I'll have to do this edition a little bit early.
The men are a solid 3-0 after running through a very weak slate of opponents by an average of 89-62. On the way, CMY now sits tied for 10th among all VT coaches with 57 career wins with Branch Bocock (who was also busy coaching baseball and football for the Gobblers at the time).
A win is a win especially when it's raining threes.
After watching Notre Dame get bailed out by officials against Radford, am enjoying watching them struggle against Youngstown State now.
It's 43-41 in second half right now.

The Ladies play Bucknell tonight on ACCNx at 7PM. This should be another tune-up game for the Hokies. Bucknell lost to St. Joseph's 66-49. The Bisons are a mature team starting 2 seniors, 2 juniors and a soph.
Their tallest starter is 6'2, senior Emma Shaffer, no. 52, who had 11 pts and 8 boards in their first game. Their other senior starter,5'8 guard Tai Johnson, no. 14, was 5 of 6 from the field and did not attempt a three. Shaffer, Johnson and #33 Julie Kulesza scored in double digits. I don't think they will do that well against the Hokies.
The team shot 37% overall and 33% from three on 5 of 15 shooting. They were out rebounded 29-27. And also had 17 turnovers. They did make 10 of 11 free throws.
Let's Go. Another strong win for the Hokies tonight.
