What is it, specifically, that is bothering you? Is it the regular tweeting about Paxton Lynch, making you question whether or not you're following the Memphis Tigers football account? Is it the voyeuristic photography of Coach Fuente with his family? The screenshots of Pete Moris' XM Radio and random references to AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne tracks?

I don't mind it. He's calling attention to the most successful alumni of the program. He's building excitement for the program. That's the job of the VT twitter. He's not there to give factual statements, He's there to point people in the direction of VT news and to give snapshots of the programs past, present, and future to fans and potential recruits.

The twitter account isn't meant to be run as if it's sending out professional memos every time. If you don't like it, don't follow it, there are other accounts out there covering VT football (ie @HokiesFB)

Lets see, the ridiculous line breaks, incoherent sentences, the typos (one of which tagged someone who had a nude image), the blurry images, the stolen images, the crooked pictures (seriously what the hell is this) and videos, and the constant gushing over players that never set foot in Blacksburg (Paxton Lynch). I can get over the emojis, they're young and stuff and I get that. But it's just poor execution.
Like Esq said, it's all opinion and I'll never convince anyone who thinks otherwise but this is a University account and the only account that some people see.

Seriously. If it bothers you, unfollow. Simple solution. Nothing that they post that is news worthy is exclusive to them. Beat writers, blogs, and other mediums will report the same information.

After the petitions for Obama to pardon Steven Avery and to award UNC with the BBall National Championship, I say go right ahead. It's not going to change anything.

Could you maybe write a short piece about why? What posts specifically don't you like? Could you point to a better run team Twitter account with a school of comparable budget?

HI HELLO THIS IS MY WHEELHOUSE thank you @swrightvt for bringing this to my attention
I have repeatedly and reasonably taken issue with the way the VT_Football account is run. I believe there are times when it borders on unprofessional, takes giant leaps into the void of unprofessional, and perhaps worst of all, makes no friggin sense. There are lots of examples of this. Just check my "VT Football/ Pete" album on my phone for the screenshots.
The OMG WHO CARES of this is important because the account is a very public face of our university and our football team. Image, propriety, and professionalism are important.
However, this is all a matter of opinion. Note above where I say "I believe". There are no hard and fast guidelines or requirements for running a Twitter account associated with a university or football team, so no one can say the way the account is run is actually, factually wrong or bad.
As discussed elsewhere in the comments, the account is successful by many measures. Athlon (eyeroll) named it the #3 Twitter account for college football programs... which you know begs a lot of questions and also please consider the source... but regardless, it's an "accomplishment" that can be touted. The account has experienced a significant increase in followers and interactions. I know that the athletic department/ Pete/ Whit track the data associated with this account, and am confident that such data is positive.
So, from a hard facts standpoint, it's hard to argue that anything is "wrong" with the account. It truly is a matter of your own opinion. And I acknowledge that it seems a lot of people really like and enjoy the account, and thats great for them. I also acknowledge and appreciate the increased activity of the account. From a more personal perspective, I appreciate that Pete (via VT_Football or his own account) has responded to my complaints and/ or corrections. Credit is given where credit is due. However, I would caution that quantity and quality share equal value. My personal wish would be for the VT_Football account to revert to strict news announcements, and the HokiesFB account be the "fun" account more geared towards recruiting and social interaction. But again, thats my opinion.
ALSO it is hysterically rich that I have such judgments about how a Twitter account is run. I regularly live tweet my commutes and use of a netipot. I am not the final arbiter of appropriateness on Twitter, and neither are you (or you or you or Pete Moris or anyone).
But yeah, I get it.

Came for the scorching hot takes, was pleased. Enjoyed thoroughly when I found my lawyer so righteously laying out pretty much the exact stance I have on this issue.

I get the complaints, but not the ones of the account being unprofessional. How many big-name accounts operate in the same style? Anyone ever follow @BelkBowl? Or for that matter, any of the bowl game Twitter accounts? What about Taco Bell? Same deal, same style.

For me, it's not the "unprofessionalism" as I feel that having a personality behind the Twitter is great...but that being said I find the consistent errors/typos, unwillingness to credit photos etc. that is frustrating.

.....why?....
"Because I'm old and can't stand the hippity-hoppity music!" - OP
what are we in high school? lol.... I think they do just fine
Uh, whoever is running the account (Pete Moris, I believe) was voted as running the third best team account in the country.
Nothing says we have a great twitter account like an Athlon Sports written article to generate hits.
Better than being one of the five worst though, right?

(You forgot the gratuitous coverage of anything Tyrod Taylor does. Literally anything.)

Pete is the worst.
Wait why

#TEAMNOTWEETER
Count me in as a starter on your team. I think you can count in IfishVTIam as well.....
I'll play DT (Doesn't Tweet), and Fish can play WR (Won't Retweet)
Come for the #hottakes, stay for the dog pics.
Motion denied.

Yes. You can be professional but still be fun. This is an excellent definition of professional in this instance.
Muted them until practice returns. I'll follow the Bills if I want to know every time Tyrod blinks.
